    Not a good photo with the bright sun and relatively low magnification lens but this is a Great Frigatebird and is the first truly native Hawaiian bird I’ve seen here.

    I work at a waste water treatment facility this picture is from about 120 feet up on top of an egg digester. I watched the baby fledge about 15 minutes after I to this picture. There has been a pair of osprey in that nest for over 20 years. 20240805_130606.jpg

    This one is too my best guess hybrid pintail/mallard. She had a very odd20240722_122346.jpg colored speculum i could never get a good picture of.

    Is that a long the Spokane River? I know there's several osprey a long that area. You should consider a day trip over to Coeur dAlene in the next few weeks as the bald eagles should be showing up to feast on the salmon. Head down to Higgins point and you won't be disappointed!

    Yes that is from spokanes waste water facility right by the bowl and pitcher. We used to head over every winter when I was a kid. There are several nesting pairs that I can see from that spot. We watch the eagles and the osprey have mid air fights all summer long.
