Uh, yeah...ok...good morning, alright! lol

I got in the company truck and went over to their office to speak to someone.

It's not suggested to go that route but sometimes things must be done to meet a requirement.

How vague was that explanation? lol

It helps to have 25 years experience in US Air Force Supply Management...I did these folk's job when I was active duty.

I definitely would not want to be a Superintendent in today's force--so much has changed since I retired in 2011.

It's a Friday and a 3-day weekend for me.

I have a US Air Force Aircraft Maintenance friend visiting from NOLA (New Orleans, LA) and we are planning on hitting breweries down at the Delaware Beaches.

There's a camaraderie between Supply (LRS) & Maintenance (MX) and this retired MX/E8 gives (me) this retired LRS/E7 a hard time on the regular.

Friend arrived close to midnight...which is way past my bedtime.

Showed him to his room to crash...and that was me until this morning at 8am.

Did a run to the Bavarian Bakery and came back home to enjoy a bit of coffee and an apple pocket (danish).

Getting ready to head out...first, a stop to Bob Evans for some morning grub.

Then heading down to Delaware Beaches.

Hey Eric!

We have an Audit today/tomorrow/rest of the week. lol

An audit is a civilian equivalent to an Inspection...like I use to endure during my active-duty Air Force career.

What's interesting is, we are being audited by a Navy guy; we are on an Air Force Base. lol

Stories are similar but not the same--and of course there's camaraderie.

Last time we had an audit was 6 months ago and I was considered a newbie/FNG.

Better take a look at my notes...do I know what Quality is?

-Do it right the first time
-Attention to detail
-No rework

Oh, it's going to be a fun time.

I need to schedule a haircut this week too!

Panic Mode!

Audit Guru will be here early today.

We have to hide everything and show how we follow procedures/protocol and also answer impromptu questions.

Man, I thought I was done with all this when I retired from Active Duty. lol

 

Well,

We evaluated/looked at one of my key processes every which way and I still got a (gee-wiz) question for reference use.

Granted, I knew an additional way of identifying what was asked.

Man, those 25 years of US Air Force Supply Management knowledge just spilled all over my explanations. lol

My current job is easy to do since the criteria (Core Concepts) has not changed.

Welp, inspector is gonna finish up some things this morning with Site Lead and then he'll do his exit brief with Site Manager.

After that, it's back to work and a cleaner-than-usual workbench in the warehouse...aesthetics gives a good impression to inspectors.

Now...did you all hear about this Delaware Paid Leave Program?

I believe this younger generation of Airman are getting blamed for shortcomings.

Yesterday, a High Priority Shipment (MICAP) coming to the base that fills a requirement for a bird (aircraft) down for parts...was put in a hold area because paperwork required more research.

Anyhow, part was signed at 1pm per FedEx.

That MICAP sat in a Hold Area for 3 hours before Higher HQs called us to check if it was processed.

Our Site Lead stayed late and checked with Receiving folks to see what's up.

The issue ended up getting resolved but had this been a real-world condition, I believe the package would have been expedited to aircraft maintenance.

My summary of today's Airman: The sense of urgency isn't there until the need arises.

 

Air Force has screwed itself in many ways. Discipline and lack of pride in how you look in uniform is so bad. Need to get back to tighten folks up when they suck ass and look shitty.
