Well, my prospective buyer backed out of buying the truck at the current reduced price. Sooooooooooooo.

the truck is going to 454 motorsports to get a new hood and hood pins installed, with doubler plates on the core support to make sure nothing rips out. He’s also going to pull the tcase for me and fix the output seal issue, and get this thing back on its feet. Once it’s back, I’ll get the windshield changed out, and I’m thinking about listing it for 40k firm, since all of the issues will have been worked out. Thoughts on that?

Sell it to a nearby friend, “cheap” with an agreement you can rage in it when you need to and have a right of first refusal for when said friend wants to sell it next.

I really want to. But none of my friends want it. They’ve seen what I’ve been through with this thing. Hell, they’ve been with me at one time or another when it’s stranded me in the desert.

If you have everything fixed, I assume you'll go sufficiently test it again, y'know, just for assurance. NOT to enjoy it for all the work you put into it, but to make sure the future buyer is getting what you say they're getting:anonymous:

I’ve been very clear with every buyer, it’s even in the listing, that this truck is a project truck. I’ve provided links to this build thread so they can see exactly what this truck has been through. I’ve been telling people that this thing has been a massive headache, but we’re running out of things that can go wrong, so it’s close.

I just secretly want you to keep it and enjoy it. It pains me to hear you say "I'm no longer a car guy." Even if the truck goes, I still wanna see you "building" something, even if its a basic dad car with rims and bug deflectors.

That’s what my buddies are hoping too. But I can’t dude. This truck is too much, cars have been too much of a money pit in my whole life. I want to drive paid off cars, and not spend money and more importantly time on any of this.

I get that. You'll maintain some sense of "being a car guy" though. Most of us find ourselves in your position, whether its finally getting rid of that high school/college shitbox project, getting rid of a boat, or parting ways with our favorite 37 year old recliner.. If you're no longer the guy doing engine swaps, long travel, or slamming rice boxes, you'll probably still be the guy with the cleanest ford taurus this side of the Mississippi. We take pride in our vehicles, even if they suck. You'll always be a car guy

Off to the shop she goes. Will be removing my listings for the time being. Will relist with the updated price once I have it back.

I’m striving to be one of those basic truck guy NPC’s who throws shocks on it and is ignorant of anything better that exists.

With the money you've spent on the 3rd Gen you could have the initial Tacoma project on the road and running fine..
