Just FYI. I bought two .243 Ruger American Gen 1s for my kids. They shoot well and are light enough for the kids to carry them, they've taken a cow elk and a javelina, plus jackrabbits with them. DD1 put three rounds through one hole last week, good shooter and good rifle.

The problem for us western hunters who aren't shooting from a stand over corn is that the bolts do not lock when on safe.

It's a design thing I didn't know about when I purchased them. Gen 2 is the same. Plenty of online commentary about it- but for us it is a PITA when we are walking through the landscapes and frigging trees and brush open the damn bolt, collecting leaves and dirt in there. We've been on hunts where we have to relocate a bit to reposition on our quarry and lost a cartridge. We don't generally walk around chambered for convenience' sake.

Sure we can tie the things closed but it is a hassle sometimes with two kids and one adult. They have also vibrated loose in the truck on rougher roads.

Love the performance, hate the bolt. I would not buy them again myself. Maybe look for a Howa 1500.

Good luck to kid on the hunt!

I like my ruger American in 6.5cm. With a good optic and good ammunition it shoots amazing. I'm far from being an expert on anything 2a related. But I've shot and own quite a few rifles and it's become my favorite.

Ruger American is lowkey the best value out there right now for bolt guns. Shoots incredible for the price point. Rimfire or centerfire.

The centerfire triggers (no experience with the RF, might be the same) are very easy to do an amazing trigger job at home with a replacement spring and some shims. The gen 2 stock looks pretty killer too with cheek rest spacers available.

    Stuff.. but not much
Back in 2016-17 I picked up a used Ruger American chambered in 30-06 with a Vortex Crossfire II 4-24x50 scope for about $380 from Cabela's. I purchased it for a deer hunt and put maybe 50 rounds through it before my hunt and maybe 10 since. I had it either on my back or in a scabbard tied to my horse. I didn't have any issues with the bolt coming open while I was walking around that I can remember. Definitely a good gun for the price.

I asked this months ago but I’ll ask again, anyone in Phoenix area have a revolver for sale? Looking for something with a 4” barrel or shorter, nothing too big.

I have a few items for sale.

    20241109_214325.jpg
    20241117_133044.jpg
GSG German Sports Guns MP-40 9mm Pistol: $500.00

I have lightly used GSG MP-40 9mm pistol for sale. It comes with two magazines, a more correct style muzzle device and a reproduction leather sling.
I wanted to do an SBR, but changed my mind.

    20241109_214917.jpg
    Retro style upper: $500.00

I have a lightly used complete AR15 upper receiver with only 30 rounds through it.

It has an A1 style receiver, 11.5 inch barrel, triangle handguards and XM-177 style muzzle comp.

This can only be used on a registered SBR or Pistol lower.

    20241109_214612.jpg
    Almost complete upper: $450.00
This upper is built from brand new parts. It is not a working upper. You will need to have the front sight pinned or install a gas block.

Other than the front sight pins it is a complete upper with 11.5 inch barrel.

The removable rear sight is a Colt, and was used overseas. It has been used!

Can only be mounted to a registered SBR or Pistol lower.

Items are located in the White Mountains.

    I am open to offers.
