Yep. The top part is the one with the nipple and points down.

I guess you prob have some miles on the OEM bushings? Were you having any noises or just changing them to “upgrade”.

Yes, I have around 104k on my truck now. Had a sort of front end clunk going faster over speed bumps, though May just be a top or bottom out. I don’t think the body mounts were the source of the noise “yet” but my factory ones were definitely worn.

Also, what do you guys think in terms of ride quality? Do you think the ride feels a little bumpier as a result of the poly bushings? The durometer rating of these I’m sure isn’t as stiff as some suspension bushings but they’re definitely stiffer than the stock rubber. Have any of you guys noticed a ride quality difference as a result? I have a hard time believing there would be a noticeable difference, so I think it’s in my head haha.

As I note above: Zero difference with the universal kits. Only a small difference with the full kit. More welcome road feel. Nothing harsh.

Gotcha. That would definitely make sense. By full kit I’m assuming you’re talking about the full energy kit, cab mounts, etc. to my knowledge energy does not make a full kit for the 3rd gen’s, since the cab mount brackets won’t line up- so I’ve heard. Other manufacturers may make them, but I don’t know when the best time to replace the rest of them is…

I went through 2 or 3 factory core support bushings. I got a second gen energy full kit with black bushings. I had read about hood alignment issues from the universal ones. They seem to be a different thickness. I only replaced the core support bushings. My driver side kept wearing through and it was always very difficult to get a bolt through the core support and mount but the truck has never been hit. My collision repair friend said the tolerance for body on frame vehicles can be huge, like 15mm.

Anyway, the poly bushings have held up great.

Did you run into hood alignment issues? After installing mine I noticed that the fender beside the hood was sitting at a different height relative to the hood compared to how it was previously. I just adjusted the little rubber stops and that helped. Though I had to adjust either side different amounts

Update: So I ordered the universal bushings and just ended up sending them back just because I was almost certain that wasn’t the noise I was hearing, it wasn’t consistent enough. Turns out it was my new Bilstein 8112s. I just out my OEM Fox struts back in (at the same lift height) to see…. And no noise. I have a thread about that if anyone is interested. Anyway, that’s that. Unfortunate but I’m stoked that the noise is gone.
