really, either will look fine but just depends on your preference.

I’m not sure if a 285/70/17 with the OEM sport wheel will really fit without rubbing the UCA. I could also be miss-remembering things I’ve read here. I have 16” wheels so what I say only goes so far.

If you don’t mind narrow tires, you might be able to fit 255/80/17s on there. Search around for the pizza cutter tires and see that you think about them.

Im also not sure you can say 285/70/17 or 255/80/17 and light tire in the same sentence. Good luck though! :fistbump:

you may need wheel spacers to clear the UCA. I’m sure there are a few threads on the wheel/tire size you’re looking at. I was reading a thread earlier about falkens, and some people didn’t notice a mpg change. I get 12-15 in and around town, up to 18 highway. My tires are heavy at 64lbs each I think.

For a more responsive truck, power and gear wise, try OTT tune. That’ll help. Won’t help with mpg but it’ll be more fun to drive.

I think that I have to move in the Pizza cutter 255/75R17 or the traditional 265/70R17... or as you were suggesting drive it a couple of weeks and find a new set of wheels... I saw on the forums a couple of Tacomas with the TRD SEMA from the Four runner.... but the offet I think is 4...

Finally, I have the lift kit installed. It feels more precise but slightly on the firmer side... not bad. I'm waiting for the tires, but I like the stance and the way it drives

Been talking with @parkerww22 for a couple weeks about spring swap. It started off with him asking a few questions about the king spring trial I did and gave up. He went further and swap his springs out with some OME 2887 and is sitting at about 2.5” of lift.

He said the ride is much better than with the IM springs. He’s driving around, putting a few hours and had no issues. He’s got a longer drive coming up and will update after that.

He also said he’s not much of a poster but I can share his comments, in case anyone wanted to swap springs. Sharing one of his pics, hope he doesn’t mind.

Maybe on my attempt I didn’t have the preload right and it messed things up.

Because I can’t help myself and must love swapping or adjusting the springs on my kit, I’m going to follow @parkerww22 and swap the coils again. I found a set of OME 2886x coil springs on FB for cheap and I already need an alignment so I thought why the hell not…

The 2886x are 660# and 15.82” free height, so about .5 inch longer and 60# lighter.

I’ll update if I’m able to get the springs and swap them out but that’s the plan for now.

I'm curious what your goal is. I loved the ride on my stock springs until I got higher ply tires. Are you going for more flex or better ride or just wanna play a bit?

lol, me too. Just a slightly less stiff ride. I know my tires are half of it but I also drove around for several months in between 255/85 and 285/75 tires and it’s still a stiff ride.

The foam cells are also valves stiffer so no matter what, which is a good thing, they’ll be stiff. My truck doesn’t have the weight to offset that right now.

I also like to tinker with it

Well, after getting a set of OME 2886x springs off fb marketplace for $30 I swapped them over.
They are the 660# set of springs and 402mm vs the Ironman 720# and 390mm.

A few notes, the OME do fit but it’s a close fit. There was a lot of rust and dirt built up on the threads under the spring seat. I spent a bunch of time cleaning and then sprayed woolwax on the threads and under where the spring seat is. Also the inside and bottom of the seat.

I was set at about 2.5” of lift before the swap. Right not, with only going off the curb and a few sudden stops I’m at 3” lift. Hoping it’ll settle more, I don’t feel like lowering the springs.

I’ll update with a review after some time on them.

    :rofl::rofl:

Another member got me interested in it again then I saw a set of springs for $30 and thought, that I already needed an alignment, so what’s a couple hours of work.

Actually glad I did and cleaned those threads and all. Plus the passenger side isolater was cracked and causing squeaks. Had to take shit apart for that too.

I do need to decide if I want to lower it a bit more but I got a few days of driving to see.

    Hope all is well!

Im interested in hearing if the spring shifts around at all and rubs on the body of the shock given the larger diameter of the shock body compared to a 2" shock that the springs are made for.

I’ll let you know if I notice anything. I should have taken more pics of it but was trying to get things done.

I did take a quick look and don’t think it should be able to move. There is a lip on the inside of the spring seat and rubber isolator. I grabbed these pics from the IM build video.

Kind of tough to tell in the pics but they can be seen. Theoretically they should prevent the springs from contacting the threaded part of the shock body.

Hey guys, I’ve chimed in on this thread before. I have foam cell pros. But wanted to share what I found out about tonight scrolling. Ironman is releasing a new shock series that is a monotube and has black springs instead of green!

I do like the green but I know some of you don’t. I read on a YouTube comment from the official Ironman international channel that said they are designed to be more comfortable then the foam cell pros and if I read right, will be replacing them. Here’s a picture of the kit:

no problem, they look sweet. I would upgrade to just the shocks depending on price and if they make any difference.
