Ended up cutting off the front and remaking the winch mount to fit the new winch. And a new hoop.

Yeah, I'm a regular watcher. I'm stoked for Padric to be there, it'll be interesting to see what happens with another skilled builder in the shop.

    He's a Toyota guy, too.

I think Toyota had the best SEMA showing in years. Maybe ever.

Got a text yesterday from some random number claiming to be the owner of the company I work for, asking if I was busy. Owner has reached out to me before via text so that part in itself wasn't odd, but the random number was.

Tried calling and no answer, texts back saying too busy to talk but if I could run down to the nearest Apple Store and buy a gift card for $500 and send a pic of the code, he would reimburse me on Monday lol.

The thing that threw me at first was that the way this guy worded the text, it was exactly how the owner does it and even used his full name at the end just like he does. And we were showing my dad and his wife our new house when the text came in and it completely threw me for a loop.

So I figured I'll call and see if it's really him and what he needs from me, but yeah after the guy's second text  Trying to impersonate someone who's net worth is over 500 million, literally has servants that work for him at his homes, saying you need an employee to buy you an Apple gift card... get fucked lol.

I've gotten a few of those, one was a couple years ago when I was working for a really small (~25 people) company too. No idea how they were able to not only figure out who I was, who I reported to, but also what my phone number is. Shits sketch. Maybe scrubbing LinkedIn data? But my phone number isn't public there, so they gotta be finding my number, finding my name associated with it, to then scrub linkedin data for where I work and who I work for?

Definitely LinkedIn. I get a ton of junk email at work because of LinkedIn, I need to go in and see if I can privatize it more or just delete the fking thing.

LinkedIn is a scam, if you think people lie on Tinder/Bumble/Hinge, that can't hold a candle to the shit folks post on their LinkedIn.

Barely survived embarrassment in Big Bend NP this weekend. As I tried to steer my open diff truck on a good line, a group of neon purple underglow and neon green grumper grill Jeep gang rolled up.

Good weekend besides a centipede in my tent. Met an older gentleman from Luxembourg who shipped over his cabover 4x4 RV for his travels.

It's pretty trivial to combine a few different data sets based on key info to form a very complete picture of someone's life.

Most things can be tied together based on email and/or phone number. LinkedIn and Facebook have your full name, employment history, personal/professional relationships, and email. Some marketing list or loyalty program you signed up for has your home address, phone number... and also your email. Some data breach has your partial (or maybe even complete) SSN, credit card, or bank account info... and also your email.

It doesn't take much creativity to put that into a basic social engineering script and blast it out to a few thousand people in the hopes that even one of them will take the bait.

Forget who was asking about the 150a alternator... But it appears the eBay ad is legit. This alternator is either a very convincing fake or a real Denso. But fakes don't usually spring for legit bearings.

Ever seen production numbers for 1st gens by color? I'm curious how may Surfside Green Mica trucks were made (the color was only available in 1998 and 1999, don't'cha know). I think people would really enjoy hearing me talk about it.

I am genuinely curious, but I've never seen numbers for first gens.
