Anytime Front/ Backup Camera Premium HD version?

I ordered the premium kit but got the fugly camera on the left that sticks out like a sore thumb... Replaced it with a Nakita off Amazon.

 

I'm not sure why it doesn't come prewired but most of the connections are just between the parts in the kit and can be done before you go into the truck. I soldered and heat shrinked most of the connections on my bench then made the few in the truck, temp plugged in the front cam and it works fine.

Probably when I bought the ABC I picked up a switch illumination break out harness, I got the one that runs off the bed light, just ran two wires over to the ABC switch so it illuminates with the rest of the switches.

I still need to mount the front cam after I figure where to locate it, definitely looks dopey but it'll probably help since I have to deal with a bull bar.

At first R4T told me to reach out to ABC, which I did and zero response, have to thank R4T for doing the right thing and replacing a kit that I sat on for a while before getting the time to install.
I did locate the short in the vid harness and all I needed was that replaced, is what it is, glad it works as it is helpful (even just the rear hooked up).

 

How does this premium version hold up in the heat? or with longer use? Mine will either flash or just go dark when they get too hot. Outside of the summer months, my cameras may run an hour straight, some times more when running trails, and they overheat. My Wolfbox rear camera is also mounted outside but it runs all the time as long as the truck is on. No problems at all.

 

I had the same horrible experience contacting Anytime Backup Camera. I don't recommended anyone purchase these as there is no support at all.

 

At first I didn't like the premium version because of how it looks. But after installing it in an aftermarket TRD Pro grille from Taco Vinyl, I now prefer it. I don't think it looks that bad and it's not nearly as noticeable as I thought it was going to look. I love how I'm able to pivot and position the lens just how I like. I've also heard about the companies lack of tech support. Surprisingly I did get a response from the owner but it took a few days.

 

The premium version has held up great in the heat. I mostly drive through the desert (Anza Borrego State Park) and I've never had an issue.

 

I purchased the Anytime camera in July 2023 and the premium camera then was the Natika with the 3 wires that could be flipped. The hardest part was drilling the hole in the stock 2023 SR grille so it hangs down. Tech support was good for me as I spoke with him before and after purchase. Some wires can be pre soldered before installation but there are others that must be soldered in the cab. I tested the the shrink tubes with the solder and found the solder did not penetrate the strands well so I ended up using the bell twist and a soldering iron and standard shrink tube. My one gripe with the camera other than being a little too fish eyed is that the guide lines are narrower than the truck. The stock rear camera lines are perfect for aligning with a curb, etc.

 

How'd you mount yours?
I have the china-pro grille and now that it works have to figure out where to mount it to not have the bull bar in the way.

hows the quality of the new "premium"camera compared to the nakita one that was originally the "premium" camera? I fell a little disappointed in the quality of the nakita. Most times the picture seems like there isnt a lot of detail, so using it off road is not super useful, and it takes in a lot of light, so the image is usually blown out and too bright

Anyone looking to buy this kit, I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I received mine, and only realized after I had the dash apart to install the switch that the switch harness didn't come with the kit. Tacoma Lifestyle support doesn't help much and anytime backup camera isn't contactable. I'd skip the headache and go for a different option.

 

Who is ‘Tacoma Lifestyle’? Did you get your camera from https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/ 0r somewhere else?

ETA: looks like you’re referring to this - https://www.tacomalifestyle.com/products/anytime-backup-camera - you seem to be among others with the similar issues from this vendor, based on the reviews on that page.

 

I definitely recommend the camera, but sounds like it's more and issue with you buying from tacoma lifestyle and not directly through ABC. I think you can buy the switch harness through ABC though

 

They’re just a reseller for anytime backup camera. I received it as a gift, but the switch harness is missing and I can’t get a response for ABC to get a replacement.
