They came by yesterday and told the boss to park out back Monday. They are going to repave the parking lot.

Boss man has a GMC Terrain, bought it new. Has 2 hundert and some thousand miles on it. Check engine light is on, he took it to the dealer cause it needs and inspection and an oil change. They won't inspect it with the CE light on.

They called him and told him it needs a catalytic converter and it had no oil in it. Has a bad cylinder

Just the converter is $2,200 :eek:

If it has no oil in it, I'd have them check on the oil light to see if it's working :burp:

Coulda been a nice build thread as I’m sure there’s plenty of interest. Might even split it into two parts. I’ll take the Condensed version. :D

I told him to call a friend of ours who has his own shop instead of just believing what the dealer told him.

I guess oil pressure light is what I meant

How many Transmission mounts did he go through. After the third warranty one my next door neighbour traded it off.

Sure are. Too bad he went from the fire into the frying pan. He bought a Caddy Escalade. Yeah, the one with the $800 outside air sensor. When it fails the A/C packs it in too. o_O

    Morning shop:hattip:

I put out a few applications over the weekend. Figured it never hurts to see what's out there. And keep the interview skills sharp. Got a call yesterday morning from a service advisor job asking me to come interview but the time they gave wouldn't work, so I gave them my availability. The guy said he'd call back yet yesterday to schedule.. still haven't heard back from them. :tumbleweed: maybe I should have just called out of my current job to make the original time work.:notsure:

I've learned through the years (most of the time) stuff like that works itself out and if it doesn't happen, it wasn't meant to be.

The guy with the pallet company who wanted me to come work for him, I've seen his wife and kids at several things around town, volleyball game, football game, fair, downtown trick or treating, etc. and I've ask his son where is your dad? Every single time, he's still working.

I'm glad I didn't take the job with him, I'd rather have the time with my wife and kids. They'll only be young once.

I know most of what I just said doesn't pertain to you, lol.

That's somewhat how I feel. If they can't work with me to get an interview time then they would likely not work with me once hired.

Dunno what certifications you need to work on helicopters, but my company is always in need of them.. and being a nation wide company, there's lots of opportunities.

I agree Creed you only get this time with your kids once. Now that my oldest is 3 I see how quick it goes. I turned down a job in the last 3 months that would've bumped me straight to 2nd shift and that just doesn't work for my family right now. But as you guys probably can tell I like interviewing, keeping the blade sharp, being uncomfortable now so that down the road a job I really want I'll be cool and calm.

Evo you guys just want a new start professionally? Or a new area all together.

We have been discussing a move, but I think we've decided that just a job change is best. We are able to put money away towards retirement with our current situation and a house payment would put a damper on that

My old job required (I actually made my own prison :frusty: ) 104% of my time, I was never without my phone and plant keys and was unofficially "on call" (unpaid) every day of the year.

I got there early, stayed late, was there on weekends & holidays and cultivated a great reputation as the guy who could be 100% depended on no matter what the situation.
My signature line was "I'll take care of that.".

    Big :censored: deal...

Young Rusty >> :smack: << Old Rusty

The only thing I got out of it was a broken, worn out body.

You owe your employer a good, honest days work every day -- but don't forget to make your personal life a priority, you only get one go round with the people you care about.

Boss man called our friend who is a mechanic and he said put some oil in the car and bring it to him. He can put a spacer in the sensor for the convertor and get it to pass inspection. He said the burning of the oil and the convertor throwing a code are related but he can get him by another year and oil is cheaper than an engine, for now.
