    Good morning gentlemen.

I have a '21 TRD OR and I'm looking to replace the struts and shocks.

I'm looking for ride quality as good or better than the OE setup, it's getting rough now but I've put this suspension well through its paces. No surprises there.

I want to level the truck with the rear, and I'm stuck on getting an OME coil with the 5100's or just using the factory Coil.

I have no added weight. I'm only looking to level the front with the back, without making the ride quality super stiff.

I'm thinking either 5100 at the 2nd ring perch or OME 885 with the 5100 at the 1st ring perch. From what I understand these will both give me about and 1inch lift.

Is that going to level the front? If not what settings will? Will the 885 ride well, on road or will it be very stiff? Will the factory Coil be very stiff?

    Thanks!

5100s with stock springs. I've run them on road, offroad, and extremely offroad. Can't complain. I'm only planning on upgrading springs because I just added a steel bumper and winch.

Which ring setting / perch are you set at? 0-5?

3, only because I had a steel skid which adds 50 or so lbs. 2 would be best if you're running stock weight for a while.

885 on 0 settings will get you 1.5-1.75 lift

    Thanks for the response.
What setup would net me leveled, with the rear? I don't wanna upsize tires and just want the rake gone. I don't tow (I have a old F350 for that) and I usually just use the taco for daily driving and adventures.

I run 885 with 5100 on 0 setting. I have AAL in rear. In my case, all 4 conners were lifted to 1.75"
It is almost leveled, there is a slight rake depending on the angle of the view

Understood, I'm guessing if I just want to level then, I should keep my OEM spring and maybe put it at the 1 setting.

If you’re ride is rough to you 5100s ride will be rougher than SR5/OR OEM suspension.

There is about 1" difference between rear and front on the stock truck.
I would research the topic so you can get maximum performance out of the suspension.

Wild enough, it was way better then it is now at 14k miles. I've beaten it off-road a good bit, and the quality is significantly worse than it used to be.

So if it's anywhere near OE I'm good

Resist leveling the truck, the rears already sag over time and if you put 50lbs in the bed it will sit nose high.

Because you offroad id say keep the clip low or run the ome spring. Higher clips ride rougher as you go.

Yeah, this. I run about 1 inch rake. It works out well for general use and offroading.

I had 5100s with the OME 887 springs with no weight and they started to sag pretty bad. I was told the OME coils were initially marketed and developed for the 2nd gen’s, and when the 3rd gen’s came around there was no further R&D even the the 3rd gen’s have a longer nose and are a bit heavier up front. I wasn’t happy with the OME coils and not being able to run them on any other perch of the 5100. I would highly recommend running the stock coils.

This rumor is being circulating on every 5100 thread.
Per ARB specs, 885 provides 1.5-1.75 " of lift for Gen2.
I got the same lift (1.8" to be exact) on stock Gen 3 SR5 v6 4×4 with some minor bolt-ons.
The truck is sitting at the same level for 4+ years.
Based on my observation and experience with 885s, I'm not convinced that Gen3 is heavy than Gen 2 like some suggests and yet to see 885X sagging.

Those were my findings too, seems like a lot of hearsay. It sounds good, but who knows if there’s any real science to back up that claim.

I should add that I got my truck used with the 5100s and it’s very possible that the previous owner ran a bumper/winch before he got rid of it. I just hit 67,000 miles, did a measurement, and the front of my TRD Offroad was sitting .75 inch taller than my girlfriends stock TRD Offroad when those springs are supposed to add ~2 inches of lift. I can only chalk that up to a sag over time. Definitely not trying to bash anyone’s set up just providing some insight into my experience with the OME springs.

Also, bear in mind that you’re paying for an adjustable coil over from Bilstein. Adding an OME spring is more money, and removes your ability to adjust ride height should you have a change of heart in the future. If you keep your stock springs, you can always just change out the spring and get your adjustment back but then what was really the point of adding the OME spring to begin with? Just some food for thought.

again, not trying to bash anyone’s set up just trying to help op see it from all angles.

So I'm currently on the third cir-clip, and stock in the back on all four Bilstein 5100's

    I have two questions.

What OME coil would give me enough lift to run a 285/75*/16 (could also supplement a wescott lift as well)

What UCA would I need at 3/2 lift with a Bilstein 5100.

I figured I'd post here before I made a whole entire new thread. I'm currently on 265/70/16, and want to go up in tire size but keep my stock wheels.

This tire size almost the same as 265 75 16, just a tip wider.
You don't need a lift to fit it in. Could be closer to the upper control arm.
