Finished installing the Bakflip MX4. This is the 2024 redesign were it now uses the rails instead of relocating them. Bummer, but I was able to get it for $300 off MSRP.

I was in a TRD Pro. The multimedia screen is ridiculously large and way to many buttons all over the place.

Tacoma Gen4 looks like a Subaru or VW on the inside. I want a truck, though.

I will be keeping my 2017 TRD OR access cab until the wheels fall off.

I have been researching which undercoating I would like. I want to have it done as I have too many things going on. I found something slightly different. It's a wax oil. I did speak to them to find out what's the scoop. I was told they power wash and degrease the undercarriage, remove and treat any rust. They will use a salt neutralizer also. They use 2 different kinds of wax oil to treat. The undercarriage gets a more firm wax while inside the rockers, doors and tailgate get a softer one. It's a daylong process. It is a one and done with free yearly touchups as long as you own it. He said Chevys are the worse and they usually have to sandblast the underside and treat for the rust.

The quote was $899 for my Tacoma. More than I want to spend but a very thorough application with lifetime touchups and I don't have to do it. It's a small business so I feel they will do a better job than a chain or dealership. Still weighing it out.
    Any thoughts?

Just wondering when the other products are applied what prep work do they do and do they also do the cavities too?

A zombie apocalypse suit and cosmoline is less expensive and has been reported by many to work just fine.

$300/year for 10 years is 3 grand. Makes the $899 seem like a good deal, doesn't it ??

I do my own. I don't find that Fluid Film lasts very well. I'm all for waxes and oils.

This is the first place I called. Not doubting the effectiveness of cosmoline. I don't have the time to do and I don't want to do it. Do other shops power wash and degrease before application? Do they do all the cavities or just the underneath?
    Thanks

Thanks for the input! Have been seeing Fluid Film types don't last and need reapplication. Not a bad thing as long as you factor it in. I want to find what costs are and how well and where it's applied. Want to get it done before winter.

    got pics of the inside?

my 2nd gen bakflip used the rails, my 3rd gen lowered the rails. I'm not sure which I like better. I like the rail but I felt it installed more firmly when using it.

On unrusted metal, I use "Undercoating in a can" It's waxy.

If there is the least sign of rust, I use Castle Endura which is a penetrating grease/oil.

For the Tacoma I got some stuff made in Sweden or somewhere that fogs into cavities.

I check the vehicles every year and spot reapply but mostly, they stay clean for 4-5 years. I use see thru coatings.

I'm over 70 and have owned lots of vehicles . I don't use a pressure washer on the underneath.
