ECGS if under the 5 year will replace it easy. replaced mine a few times. I do now have a Front Range Diamond Tundra Rear End. I like the Toyota rear vs the heavier Danta 60. If timing is important, I would swap the ECGS rear end (this is what I did) and then sell it to a fellow TW member for a deal. This will help offset your rear end purchase.

Front Range is not the fastest at getting this stuff out. If you are doing one of the so-called stock width setups, then you may get it quicker. My 6-week order took 4-5 months to arrive. I also had them make it 4" wider so I no longer had to think or consider spacers (I was running higher offset wheels).

The Dana 60 will be at your door 30-60 days. Custom Tundra with ARB Locker and custom 35 spline axles was around $7k.

I went all in as I did not want to deal with it again. The plus to the Diamond also is better clearance than the Dana and a Fabbed housing, so this sucker is strong, plus, they look cool.

Def call up ECGS if under 5 years and get that swapped out so you have some start up capital for your new setup.

 

Pretty much what I'm leaning towards.. I remember you going through this and was telling my wife to be prepared, as its probably going to be the same thing.. lol

After reading around and deciding what I'd like to do I agree.. Thats the setup I want to get. Diamond Fab'd housing, stock width, 30 spline shafts, and ARB E-Locker. I like that its beefier than stock, both with the housing and the Diff size, uses available gear sets, and its ready to go.

Shows roughly $4500 for me..

EDIT: I do like that the Dana though can be upgraded to 35 spline.. I just like the availability of the stock 30 spline more I think.

 

nice that likely makes sense since your not doing a custom width, its not a tundra pumpkin (that was a large part of the cost). Plus what I did not ensure was getting some of the things like spring purches welded on before it was shipped. This should come ready to bolt up so you shouldn't have much in terms of install costs. besides cutting off the shock mounts and welding new ones for your setup. I'm sure the 9.5 is plenty good and I def debated it. I had seen a similar setup with a tundra rear and couldn't get that idea out of my head.

 

Gotcha. I like that it's mostly a beefed up replacement. There's a little concern with my current axle shafts.. so I'd get new shafts and everything so it probably would add up. But also ..

..this is the time to do a rear disk conversion.. thinking that SOS kit.. and probably will finally do an Archive relocate for the rear as well..

 

HMMMM... now I'm going back and forth. Thinking the Dana 60 from ECGS might be a better option for a few reasons.

By the time I get new 30 spline axle shafts, shipping of everything, etc with the Diamond axle.. I'm not far off from the price of a Dana 60 WITH 35 spline shafts from ECGS. Chunkier axle and gear set for sure too. Less ground clearance.. but I can get the Eaton E locker to keep the factory E locker setup (and can match the front with a Eaton E locker later too). PLUS.. if ECGS would be willing to work with me since its their 3rd in there now.. that could help out a bit as well.

 

It's worth the ask; lots of people like the Dana, but as you noted, it's chunkier and less clearance, but it's pained and plug and plug-and-play for the most part. You should be able to get an e locker on either setup. You could get housing from Diamond with 35 spline and order the diff from ECGS (I wish i had done that just for warranty reasons) but I did get a brand new housing from Diamond which was nice. In the end they will all do the trick. the dana is a proven setup.

 

I guess I was just basing the locker setup off what they had in house to make it easy.. If I was going to have to split up stuff that makes it a little less enticing for me... and the fact ECGS has everything I need including the customer service and warranty is a big plus.

 

yah cant argue with the support of ECGS. I prob would have done the rear pumpkin with ECGS but didn't think about it at the time. Prob could have done axles via them too or another. ECGS has been great for me. Warranty is best in the biz.

 

See, thats the thing.. I can get it all through them. Dana 60, gear set with the ratio I need + E-Locker, 35 spline shafts, etc. hmmm.. sounding better and better for sure, especially if they can work with me. Gonna have to call em and see.

 

yah def. If your all in for a D60 then its perfect. At the time I did not want to go with a D60 but def considered it.

I got mine from HolyHandGrenade. I was local to ECGS and went by there when I had an issue clocking ABS sensors on it. Everything with them is first class from product to customer service. Never a question even after stating I was not the original buyer from them. The 35 spline chromoly are great. They use the same axles in their V8 rock hoppers and to please send them a video of whatever I could do to break them in a Tacoma. I broke multiple 4.88 ring gears prior to this D60. No issues.

 

I saw that reading through various threads. Wanted to get both your guys opinions. I have a ECGS 3rd in the truck right now, definitely like their customer service. This is my 2nd ring gear that's smoked..

my biggest concern is the loss of ground clearance with the D60. Have you ever noticed it being a hindrance or annoyance.. needing to change wheeling habits or just re-learn lines, etc.

 

On 37s I never had an issue but I am not one doing things that are highly technical. I doubt I could provide any fair insight on this.

Getting a response will be a challenge but he did mention he could do it. Or order the pumpkin from EcGS housing from front range or yolo the D60

 

I don't see an ECGS option for a 9.5.. but that would be ideal. Diamond housing. OEM width. 4.56 w/ e locker. 35 spline shafts.
