Well, first of all, you might wanna look at my post 27776 and the tundras made in Texas now by the way.
second of all anything can break down on day one, nothing is bulletproof. But what’s your point? Either you’re a fan of tacoma’s or you’re just on here trying to be a hater. Which one is it?

I'm surprised that the iForce MAX model supply pipeline has not filled yet. They are still rare as hen's teeth.

While not as many as non-hybrid, there are 22 Hybrid Tacoma's within 50 miles of me in upstate NY. Most are on the ground and a few are still coming in. Go out to 100 mile radius and it shows 99+ available. That is a lot of trucks IMHO!

Using Toyota's Search Inventory, there are 29 iForce Max Tacomas within 100mi of my zip code. There are 74 Land Cruisers within 100mi.

Maybe launching two new models with the same new engine wasn't a good idea. Maybe having the existing V6TT engine as an option on both of those vehicles would have made supply pipeline issues better. Then again, not sure of the availability of debris-free V6TTs. If the V6TT was an option though, I would take it (now that the debris issue is in the rearview mirror).

Aside from the argument against Consumer Reports being a reliable source, we can just pretend it is, and still pick a hole in this argument. You've cited 2023 Consumer Reports, which includes 0 data for 2024 models. Even had you cited 2024 Consumer Reports, you'd be sourcing reports on 2000-2023 year models, with very few 2024 year models included.

While I agree with your assessment that Toyota remains number one year to year, and I'd be bold enough to say even 2024 models remain "probably more reliable than other brands" according to most metrics, I think its appropriate to have skepticism given the data doesn't exactly exist yet.

I would have posted the latest 24 reports, but they have not been posted yet themselves

Exactly my point; can we really determine 2024 reliability at this point with current available data? (assuming that data is even reliable anyways; thats an entire different argument). My point is its acceptable for people to be skeptical until data exists to potentially persuade them otherwise.

Again, we can both agree that trends will likely lead us to another year of Consumer Reports putting Lexus/Toyota on top. It just doesn't mean that people can't question its validity.

While the engine recall affects most Tundras, only about 1% actually had engine failures. While not a great, 99% had no engine issues. Some of those might experience premature engine issues after 100K plus miles (most people keep cars 8yrs x 12K mi/yr = 96K miles).

So if you take out the Tundra engine failure, which was not a design problem and Toyota has made/is making good, how would you rate the reliability? Compare to other brands with ECM, brakes, transmission, etc.

I'd rate reliability towards the top of the spectrum, compared to other brands. But that would only be my opinion, and I'm fine with recognizing that. I wouldn't make that claim as fact though, considering any source I'd try to site would be full of confounds, mainly considering that we're still in the year 2024 and only a handful (in the grand scheme of things) have been on the road and made any reports.

Without looking at the allocation table, prior to purchasing a week ago, two local dealers in Everett WA and Marysville WA, had a combined total of about 60 "regular" 2024 Tacoma models shown online. A combined total of about 6 iForce Max models (3 each), including two Trailhunters and a Pro. When I visited the Marysville dealership, they had 5 hybrids on the lot. A web listed Pro and Trailhunter were already allocated, leaving three other TRD OffRoad hybrids. Two were "premium optioned" ($59K+) and the one I purchased was a less optioned OffRoad. The salesperson did not have a direct answer to the pipeline "shortage" but said, "we are selling more non-hybrid models at this point". Of course they are. The Hybrid I bought was the same one I test drove 10 days earlier. Still on the lot? "The same one I test drove -- not sold? How are Tacomas selling?" "We never sell as many as we would like!" Lots of Capt Obvious responses there.

The only drawbacks of buying a Ranger are that the cam phasers and the valvetrain are going to go early, and the underbody drivetrain components are going to rust out. Other than that, it seems to be a good truck.

I find it very hard to believe that honda/acura are that far down on the list.

Edit: if anything, it should be where buick/chevy is and swap them out
