I received an offer last night from Toyota for a buy out. I'm not accepting it. Not included is the reimburse for the 2 loan payments made while truck in shop. The other thing that I am absolutely going to lose on is when I made initial purchase I received a tax credit for about $2500 based on my trade in value. So on my next purchase I'm going to pay full taxes. Am I looking at this right?

I would be rip-shit at this point, get my money back or as much as possible, and would swear off Toyota. If any brand did this to me, they would never see another cent out of me. I know it does not affect this in least, but I would feel a bit better.

    That is just an error.
Did you include them with the print-out "an official bank statement" of all the payments you made along with the pay-off amount like they requested on the list of paper-work they required you to provide????
Ide bet, you did not, cuz if you did, they would be paying it...
They owe you every cent back & they know this. Its your job to provide them with all statements....
Theyre not playing games, when you finally realize this, this process will go smoother & less stressful for you................................
Theyre not trying to intentionally screw you....

<--- OP..... Once this is settled I'm looking at most likely picking up a low mileage 2023 Tacoma. My trade in was a 2022 with 33k on it so if I can come close to that I'll be fine. Just so disappointed. The ride and overall driving experience of the 2024, in my opinion, is superior to the previous gen. I love the body style also. Just have no confidence in purchasing another 2024. Would wait for 2025 but by that time these will be even more overpriced to make up for all the losses Toyota is taking on the Tundra...

    Dude!!!
We spoke on the phone, you seem like a great guy....
    Breath!!!!
You have had some bad luck, the only 24 taco the suffered failure due to a misbuilt / faulty part..
The latest gen is an amazing vehicle, you obviously bought it for a reason.
Lick your wounds, throw some dirt on it, get back on the horse & just buy another.....
Youre going backwards by being scared.
Its a blessing you dont realize, interest rates have come down a ton, prices dropping, inventory increasing, etc..

Theyre not going to jack the prices on the tacoma to make-up for losses on the tundra....
Yes, 2025's my guess may go up $1k....
& when they finally show-up on the lot, you will probably only be able to get maybe $1200 off msrp on the newly released year.
Unless theres still a ton of 24's on the lots.

I picked my first one up shortly after they came out & managed $1200 off msrp which was the standard costco club discount at the time, now as of last I checked is $1700, discount goes up with other trims, this was discount on sr5

    ok, im guessing oversight.
Not, we're going to screw you...
Dont forget to lock them-in now on "im not going to pay the mileage use fee" now before they give you your final offer....
Even though its very minimal especially for your "usage"
AT 1700 miles mine was like $40, I told them no, they removed it...

My vehicle I think I maid 5 payments along with overpayment on every-one, got it all back & no / zero funny business...

    interesting,
when I started my process I reported sure it was less than 1500 miles, could have been 500, dont recall.
they never asked how many miles were on it during the finalization of paperwork, I know it was like 3500 miles.
    They waived $40 mileage fee.

You hardly have any miles & the mileage fee is $95...
Maybe its a pricing varies by state thing.

No matter how you look at it I have no confidence in the new model. I bought it based on Toyota reliability and it shit the bed. And based on the fact that the dealership cannot even get parts to fix it in a reasonable time frame doesn't help. I rather take a step backwards into confidence, reliability and a better shot at longevity.

I worked as an engine mechanic for Ford for 32 years, new redesign model release and up ramp of new model build delays are going to happen. That engine will be put back together with the next in the next month or so. Huge Repair and every brand is in a similar situation.
Not too long ago, Border Patrol had to wait one year for Ford to build them a remanufactured 5 L long block…
You do you, but your view is flawed, you have had the only Tacoma with the engine failure unfortunate but doesn’t mean it’s no longer reliable by any means….

By the time you’re happy enough to accept Toyota buying your truck back, your current truck will be fix and you’re gonna have to go pick it up and accept it back

Translation: They're gonna have his truck fixed, he'll be driving it, and come to terms with it being good enough before they officially buy it back and put him in a new one at this rate.
