In VA we can just walk into a DMV with the title and correct sections filled out, and they will print out a new title. Does it not work like that in CA?

Nope. I've gone into the DMV to try and get it as well, apparently titles are only handled and sent out via the Sacramento office.

Cheaper than an insurance claim if something happens.

Washington's the same way. You can get registrations same day but not titles unless you're in a large metro area and they have a quick title office, which then cost extra.

I havent done it in a while, because Im not changing bikes. But I used to go in with my bill of sale, proof of insurance, and title. Pay the transfer fee, title fee, and registration and walk out with plates, registration and stickers, and a new title.

Even with just paying off my AT, I had to wait 8 business days for the bank to tell the DMV that its done. I get a letter from the bank saying the balance is paid in full, and I got my title 3 business days after that. Then I just updated my insurance saying that I dont have a lien, and good to go.

thats not fair lol i always have to wait weeks before getting it!

the gf when she got her car down in her corner of texas the lender will actually hold the title until its paid off so you get nothing until its done. we had to go through that bs!

Ks e-files if there is a lien. Never had an issue getting my titles in the mail. Used to be able to drive to the Capitol and get them printed same day if you needed.

LOLOLOLOL.... something fast and efficient in California govt, now that was funny.

EDIT- I literally pay 55$ a year for a AAA membership so I can do most CA DMV things NOT AT the DMV annnnnd get handed things in person (license plates, registration stickers etc etc). - But alas pink slips still go through the main office in sacramento.

what he speaks of, we can only dream about

$55 a year? no RV/Moto policy for your AAA?

I have AAA but only for the towing aspect. With DMV stuff I usually just process it online and it comes in the mail usually with no issue.

I have renters insurance, but any vehicle insurance policies were way way too expensive through AAA vs my current progressive moto and geico auto.

Oh yeah I use farmers (or Foremost through Farmers) for the actual insurance policy.

I just meant for the towing perks lol. but it's likely your moto insurance also has towing on there, I know mine does.
