That part was one of the more uneventful tasks. Getting the axle nut loose with the help of the jack stand was a Yes! and getting the sway bar link off and back on was a Yes!
But pulling that CV joint out of socket :annoyed: :censored: and getting it back in :taco::yay: was the big event of the night.

$899 is the same quote and sounds like the same exact process that I recently received for a local Waxoyl treatment. I agree that $899 is alot of $$$, but the free lifetime touch-ups have me considering it...

Man that front bumper is calling my name, excited to see the progress you've made! Do you ever plan on doing any weld it yourself kits for bumpers?

Haha. Actually, I think this happened to me once, not while I was changing out the ECGS bearing, but while I was doing something with the front coil spring. Believe me I was sweating bullets, but I finally, put the tire on temporarily, lift it up The truck a little more and push the wheel in towards the engine just kept pushing up on the tire And pushing in towards the engine, and it finally went back in all is well. Tragedy diverted.

I have found it best to loosen Both sides of the sway bar links while the truck is flat on the ground. When one wheel is up, the other is down Messing with the sway bar is a little more difficult.

At that cash, get it dry ice blasted and treated for about $1300.00
Get it treated with Krown, nhoil, or fluid film for less than 350.00 I'm cheap and sprayed 8 cans of ff. Not fun.

Not sure I understand these high priced oil treatments. Just buy a few cans of Corrosion-X and do it yourself. That stuff is truly magic and I have used it in much harsher environments than our trucks will ever see.

Oil change, plugs, air filter, transfer case fluid and rear diff fluid all done. Starting to prep for a Windrock trip in January. Dirty work is done, fun stuff coming up.

Anyone here notice if the threads on your plugs were real sticky when you removed them? Mostly on the rear plugs closest to the fire wall. Thinking back to a lifetime of changing plugs on everything I have ever worked on and I can't remember if I have ever had sticky threads before. Normal wear on the plugs, nothing obvious stood out and they were tight, none were loose.

I could probably get some later, but I don't have any at the moment. The only other cover that I've ever owned was a Retrax and that allowed me to use my OE tie downs but I can't get them to fit with the Bakflip due to the side rails so lowering the rails would've been nice. I've been looking for some replacements like the billet ones since I actually use my tie downs, but they are a bit much, so we'll see.

Rust prevention is not a "one and done" type deal. It requires annual application and touch up's. I would stay away from anything that "hardens".

I've been using Fluid Film for the past 7 or 8 years and just switched to WoolWax this year. I applied WoolWax to my frame at 1,500 miles, so it is essentially brand new and I plan on doing it every year.

I do all of my own applications with my air compressor and spray gun so I can't comment on searching around for shops to do it.

Just make sure they spray inside the frame and pull skid plates and body plugs which are often overlooked.

I just did my plugs 4k miles ago at 60k miles and I don’t think mine were sticky in any way.
