So I've changed and added LEDs to every part of the truck except, the headlamps. After searching around the forums and websites, the sticker shock was a bit overwhelming but, I have accepted spending lame amounts of money for true LED assemblies.
That being said, I am looking for pictures, suggestions, rants, raves, and any other commentary on your aftermarket 3rd gen headlamp assemblies.

I am leaning towards the Attica 4x4 units. They are kinda' quirky and I like that the internal lamp shape matches my fog lamp shapes pretty closely.

    Thoughts from the team?

The prevailing thought that I see with the most success is going with an OE setup.

Yes, it will cost more. But it will work the best.

As for performance, nothing out there beats OEM LEDs. Very few meet or exceed your halogens performance, and 99% of the LED headlights will perform worse. I’m sure someone will link crash’s thread soon, but it’s a good read. You can do OEM LEDs on your trail edition too, just FYI. I happen to know because I’m the guy that makes it happen

Oem assemblies will be on sale on the Toyota parts sites for Black Friday, putting them at or below morimoto XB sale prices. That’s the way to go

oem led headlights with ss3 max fogs. They're worth the money and no other brand will outperform them. That's why you're wanting to upgrade. Why not go with the best and pick oem?

Even the factory LEDs won’t melt snow that accumulates while you are driving. Just a note if you head up into the mountains. LEDs are very cool though.

I may be in the minority, or I may have just gotten lucky, but I had good luck with the alpharex headlight assemblies in my previous vehicle (Ranger) and installed them in my Tacoma recently.

Can I confirm or dispute the comparisons between OEM/Morimoto/Alpharex? No. I’m not an expert in lighting. Can I confirm they work as intended and provide me the ability to drive in dark rainy foggy conditions? Yes.

TW folk strongly suggest OEM based on field-reports. If you are happy, so be it. Others come in asking "Should I pay less with Morimoto?" and we answer "too many reported issues, use OEM" to help avoid spending money on what they may not like.

Oh yeah, I’m definitely not trying to say they’re better than OEM. I trust the research that others here have done. I’ve just had a positive experience with what I installed previously and liked the look of these, and am satisfied with it. Everyone’s eyes are different, and based on what I read here, if someone wants to buy once, cry once, and have more certainty it’ll work for them, I totally understand the OEM route.
