Pretty obvious it’s my rack and pinion leaking it was noticed a couple days ago. Keeping eye on fluid until replacement next week, seems it’s a slow leak. Only 170k here, definitely thought I’d get longer life in the original one but oh well

    That’s about right.
    Mine has 175k on it.
The boot on the passenger side is moist.
No drips yet. I’ve had to add about 2 oz. to bring it back to full.
Which isn’t enough to really have bought a quart of fluid. But having it back at “full” makes me feel better.
Not had to add any in a year. And so far, the “leak” hasn’t gotten worse.

Anyways, Mine started at about 165k or so.
Well, that’s when I noticed it anyways.

170k is considered on the high side. My 2nd gen developed a leak before 70k.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I have 255k on my '14 and just replaced the inner and outer tie rods a few weeks ago. When I removed the passenger side boot, the PS fluid poured out all over the place. I just cleaned it up and put it all back together. Going to let 'er buck until I trade it in next summer. Not worth the hassle.

I'm have a 3rd gen, but same steering rack. They leak by design. Mine was leaking at 30k. I flushed the fluid and it seems to have stopped for the time being.

On my dads 2nd gen it lasted to around 180k then the aftermarket replacement one only lasted two years. Spend the money and get an oem one if you are going to keep your truck.
