It's dominated tons of people's feeds for sure

A big part of me is betting it's staged

He knows plenty to keep himself out of trouble and do research/seek help where appropriate.

That blown piston I mentioned earlier is from the first engine in his Outback XT. After blowing that he built a new engine from the block up, iirc he built it for 400hp and then tuned it for 300hp to keep it reliable. He learned the platform inside and out and has a ton of knowledge about boost. The big difference would be that Subarus use the factory ECU as a base for tuning, where I think the fun in building a 3RZ or 5VZ would come from programming a standalone--but I know there's a ton of help and advice available here for anyone going down that path.

Next outing we're going to try to make 400hp to the tires which should be nearing 500 torque. Maybe that will convince him :D it already makes 405hp to the crank and 485lb torque according to the mustang Dyno. Going back this time with two more pounds of boost and corrected boost controller logic so it pulls all the way to red line rather than dropping off after peak torque

I mean it's hard to believe none of it isn't staged - I've never understood fights -- I get the desire to punch people but...

The whole "show" behind it all is just idk. Obviously some people pay for it; anyone here love this stuff?

Still just a 250k engine with boost stuffed into it?

180k but yeah, I've done nothing to the heads or bottom end yet. I don't even have the good 01-04 head gaskets. Just good old fashioned tuning and boost. I don't know if you saw but I added on to my last post

I see the addendum now. Impressive, and the new tune goal sounds great. Looking forward to the video and curious to see how reliable it stays.

mostly trying to understand how winning against "grandpa" is a win -- only losing against "grandpa" would be saying anything...

Unlike last time we're not just blindly turning it up on the dyno either. The tune that it's going to run for the dyno this time it's done countless pulls of already in testing. It seems to like 14.5 psi. As for reliability, that's a pretty big question mark. It's already done so many back-to-back pulls at all my successive power levels since it was built. Basically two years and 10,000 miles of romping on it so far. Being a stock engine though I know it isn't going to last forever. Plus I'd like to turn it up even more. That's why I'm building another already. One that I can turn it up down low in the RPM range a little bit more too, i'd really like to bump up the torque before 3000 RPM even more. Next one is getting forged crank, rods, and Pistons. And I'll have the heads ported and switched to shim under bucket so I can rev the thing out to 7000 RPM.

Huh, it must just be metal fatigue over time. It didn't look like he was on a crazy obstacle or anything.
