That’s inside the garage, metal box and emt is fine there. Can use it outside as well with the proper box and connectors.

They make listed wire nuts that come with spooge in them. I’ve never used them personally. We had contractors at UMO wire up bollard lights with regular tan twisters, they lasted a couple years on the ground before they rotted out.

really depends on the moisture resistance of the equipment being worked on.

anything being remodeled/old, or having an opening to pool or ground water(junction boxes with a splice, on the house with a pipe that goes underground to pool equipment or other buildings), i've always added dielectric grease. but also important, face the wire nuts up. it keeps the water from pooling in the wire nut, which will further corrode the connection.

i also never tape wire nuts-- if the wires aren't held properly by the twisting action to require taping, it means the connection will fail later anyways.

it's really got nothing to do with flexibility. it's got everything to do with corrosion. plastic doesn't rot out. it gets brittle at lower temps, but it never rots out. all metal boxes eventually rot out and require replacing.

the issue i've had with the official weatherproof ones is that once i twist the wire nut onto the wires, it pushes all the grease out of it, leaving exposed copper.

given the cost and the specialty of the weatherproof wire nuts, i ended up just always using standard wire nuts and then squirting the dielectric grease into them. never had a callback with that method. but had plenty of callbacks years later when using only weatherproof wire nuts in highly corrosive environments with pool chemicals.

Neighbor across the street has a dam street lamp in her back yard cause she was afraid.
Now she’s gone and new owners left it on and went out of state for a few months.
Had to buy new blinds for the bedroom when she had it installed.
I needed new ones anyway so it really didn’t matter in the long run. LOL
It was burned out for years but the new owners fixed it.
I don’t see how they can sleep.
All my bulbs, inside and out, are 100 watt daylight.
They get switched to led when they shit.
Garage has one incandescent bulb in the circuit, because of a motion sensor,
to add “pressure” cause the circuit gets the heebie jeebies…

I’d be pissed for sure. My neighbor put one of those on his house that made my property light up like Fenway Park for a night game.

I talked to him about it and ended up buying him a shielded light that lit his property but not mine.

A few weeks later I was talking with his daughter and she thanked me because the old light blaster her bedroom.

I know I sound like a nutjob but light pollution is one of the easiest things to address and the benefits are numerous.

Off my soapbox now. Good morning everyone, I hope you have a pleasant Sunday :hattip:

    Edit:
NH has a Dark Sky policy, check your state and local laws to see if you have recourse if someone’s else is lighting your property:

I used to pack my telescope to the end of the block & I’d be good. Today I pack it a mile & still have too much light pollution. LED’s just made it worse bc everyone leaves them on.
