I have full coverage and a $0 deductible on comprehensive claims, but Butch is probably booked solid until January and it would probably take two days to fix this; I’ve gotten so many mystery dents in the last two years or so that I think it’s pointless to bother fixing them. Luckily, I have touch-up paint so I can stop rust…

For those of you don't remember, Amanda started working at the nursing home in either late April or early May of 2024. Kevin, the executive chef and one of Amanda's bosses, told Amanda to beg me to take the other full-time dishwasher position in very early June after hearing that I was unemployed. I hesitantly took it, started on June 21st, and started experiencing burnout by the beginning of September. A number of factors led to me aggressively seeking a new job, and my prayers were answered at the end of October.

Amanda still works there, and I haven't started at UPS yet, so I still drive her to and pick her up from work. This morning, I pulled up to the main entrance just before 11am to drop Amanda off; I immediately noticed a couple of guys trying to load an elderly woman into a Hyundai EV, and an empty unattended wheelchair starting to roll away. I started beeping the horn, and one of the guys looked at me wondering what was up. I frantically started pointing out my open window at the wheelchair and one of them took off after it. He stopped the wheelchair, but then Amanda I both noticed the other guy losing his grip on the elderly woman; I threw the Tacoma in park, and Amanda and I both jumped out of the truck, and ran to assist just as the guy brought the wheelchair back.

Turns out that the elderly woman was the mother of the Hyundai owner, and the guy who'd chased after the wheelchair was his friend. The mother had a stroke about two years prior and was totally unable to walk. Despite being small and thin, she was also deceptively heavy and total dead weight due to the paralysis caused by the stroke. They had been trying to get her into the backseat when the wheelchair rolled away. We continued attempting to get her into the backseat, and lets just say that something happened that was reminiscent of Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction. You can probably figure out exactly what happened. Thankfully, there were four of us all around her so nobody could see anything.

The decision was made to put her back in the wheelchair and try to get her into the front seat. We got her out of the wheelchair, but then she started sliding out of the seat. She had minimal control of her hands and absolutely no control of her legs. I ran out around to the driver's side of the Hyundai, hopped in the driver's seat, put both of my hands under the woman's armpits, and was able to drag her into the shotgun seat while Amanda positioned her correctly. This poor woman may have had a stroke and couldn't really move, but she still seemed pretty sharp mentally and said "God bless both of you" to me and Amanda. That really made me happy.

While all this was going down, I had forgotten to shut the driver's door to my truck. While I was shutting it, the son who owned the Hyundai apparently offered Amanda money, which she refused. Amanda ended up being almost ten minutes late clocking in, but her boss understood.

There's this 19-year old kid from Philly named Emmanuel who helped me out with dishwashing a lot when I was still working there. He just got his driver's license, but he doesn't have a car yet, so he takes the train and then the bus. The bus drops him off at the Montgomery Mall, which is like 5 or 10 minutes by car but about an hour on foot; I drive and get him from time to time. Today, Emmanuel wasn't paying attention and got on the wrong train, ending up about thirty minutes from the nursing home in Huntingdon Valley instead of a short drive away at the mall...

He called me as I was pulling into Amanda's neighborhood and told me what he had done, and that he no idea where he was. He gave me the address of a nearby gas station and I looked it up. I made the decision to go out of my way to get him, and was made about 15 minutes later because I helped the guy in the Hyundai with his mom. So yeah, exciting day! A runaway wheelchair, a grateful old lady, and a teenager with cerebral flatulence... :goingcrazy::rofl:

Dashcam only works when the ignition is turned on, and remember the June 2023 “political sticker incident” where my truck got vandalized in the Wawa parking lot? Stores won’t release footage unless the police are involved…

Total bummer Charlie. I know you like to keep your truck in mint condition.

Should I raise a stink? I am not 100% sure what caused it, and my only clue that it happened at Home Depot is that there were orange marks in the silver paint…

U could ask for camera footage but police may have to help. Seems like it would have to be a hard hit , u think it was on purpose?

    Yeah. I’d be upset.
But the reality is, it’s nearly a 15 year old truck. Is it really worth the time to investigate and press charges? Seriously, it will take time and money to per-sue.

I’m just going to throw a small fit, say a few choice words, and have a few people give me a weird look in the parking lot. Then, I’m going to carry on with life. Because it is not worth my time or effort.

Sorry Man. I hate it happened. People suck.

I would fix and move on.

Can't remember if I told you the Roush was wrecked from a 4x4 fencing post in Oct. 500 miles and 11k in damages. Sucks...should get it back next week.

I was for sure thinking I would slide this car off the track or something instead of this. Go figure.

Sure. Call the store and tell them, if they won't release it call the police and tell them. Let them go from there.

As an aside, if your cam does have the parking mode option buy the wiring kit and enable it, that's short money

Oh it did suck. We seen it at the last second, looked like a small box (parallel with highway) and I had the choice to slam on the brakes or try to accelerate past the vehicles around me. I slowed down hoping it was a box...it wasn't.
Most of the damage cost was due to "Roush" parts costing so much.

Wheel/tire/coilover/side skirt, front headlight, front splitter.
