Need to swap out transmission

I have a 2011 Tacoma pre-runner, the transmission is slipping like crazy, I've tried the dump and fill fluid thing. Didn't do any good, brought it to several transmission places and they all tell me the same thing. Needs to be rebuilt or replaced. I figure while I have it down I'd like to get a manual five speed.

Do any of you taco owners think that updating from a 2011 transmission to a 2015 transmission would be a good idea, is it something that can be done? Sorry for the noob question
