    Question for dog/ pet peeps:
Your dog that loves everyone and would hold the door for a burglar barks and growls (and means it) when one 16 year old comes over. Bad enough we put her in another room. Thoughts?

I told my son to trust the dog.

    * funny side note that may have bearing, cause dogs pick up on weird stuff.
Last year this kids name was Jenny and this year it’s James. Only the hair cut passes for James.
Maybe the dog is just not ready for the drama.

I could get behind this.. I agree that the 2022+ aren't as nice looking at the VA, but I do find myself liking them more in person than in photos. A proper STi model might at least convince me to do a test drive.

I'm chomping at the bit to pick something up, but the right one just isn't out there right now. At least going into the winter it makes it easier as if I bought one it would be hibernating anyways.

Our two dogs also have a similar reaction to.. those types of people…

    The dog is definitely right.
Well if you want one that isn’t rusty, look in the Phoenix/Tucson area. I can look it over for you if you find one.

They still have their appeal-- one of only a few AWD cars available with a stick, and in a vacuum they're still a very good time-- but the competition has made huge strides while price creep has really worsened the WRX value proposition

I'm a little OCD when I do home repairs, but not THAT OCD. I've taken apart two hours of work to hang a door because it wasn't balanced quite right and slowly swung closed, but again, I don't line up the wall plate screws. I do make sure that my wiring is 100% correct as that could burn down the house. :(

I replaced all of the GFCI outlets in our new to us 20 year old house because one of them just wore out. I figured if one 20 year old GFCI could fail, they'll all fail sooner or later and at the worst time.

I'm finding out a lot about "builder grade" hardware, fixtures, and even windows. Ugh.

I FINALLY got a bed mat for my truck. I really wanted a factory one but it took forever for the dealerships to be able to order one.

"Buswest" has gone way down hill over the last couple of years. We flew to Charlotte and back to Austin last week and the service is definitely not as good. Our previous flight was in 2022 (I think) just before they got rid of the mask on planes mandate. The flight attendants then were yelling at people to keep their masks on, but I saw them sitting in the jump seats without masks just chatting.

Their attitudes are better now, but even spending money for the "Early Bird" check in resulted in us being in "B" group on one flight and at the very end of the "A" group on another. Frankly, I used to do better checking in right at the 24 hour before the flight mark. They've gone from giving people a whole can of soda to giving about six ounces in a "bamboo" cup that they are very proud of.

They've also cut almost all of their direct flights. We flew from Austin, to Nashville, then to Charlotte and reversing that on the way back. When we fly I try to find aisle seats directly across from each other, so that we're together, but not together. If that makes sense. For some reason, we always seam to end up on a "screaming baby" flight, so I bought noise cancelling headphones for both of us.

    Stupid TPMS versus Smart TPMS.

My wife's 2020 RAV4 XLE is not tagged as a Premium, but it has most of the Premium options. Heated seats, heated steering wheel, front window defrost, Lane Departure that will steer you back into your lane if you don't turn on the directional, automatic HVAC with individual settings, seat fabric pattern as used in the Premium, and OEM remote start. We bought it off lease and the dealer even had the hood repainted because it had a couple of scratches that couldn't be buffed out. She loves and once in a while I get to drive it.

Anyway, on to my story. She told me the other day that the TPMS light was on. Since the temperature had dropped over the previous couple of days, I checked the tire pressure and brought all four up to the recommended 36psi cold temperature. I then found out how to reset the TPMS light and did that. Then I went to look for the tire pressure display as I have in m SR5. Nope, nothing there. I went through all of the menu items and there is no display that I could find.

I did some research on line and it appears that RAV4 come with either dumb TMPS which is the light only, or smart TPMS which shows the tire pressures for all four tires on screen.

It's odd that such a well equipped car doesn't have "Smart TPMS." The other odd thing is that it doesn't have an auto dimming rear view mirror. It's a 1970s style with the little lever you have to move to get into night mode. MY SR5 has that as well as the smart TPMS.

Toyota sure does weird things sometimes. BTW, this is a "national" RAV4 not Southeast or Gulf Coast version. I'm starting to think that the two independent distributors get to order their vehicles built slightly different than the national version.

Southwest sucks. Fighting for a seat, no direct flights and canceled flights due to BS excuses, no thanks. I like Delta the best lately with Jet Blue coming in second.

Unfortunately Jet Blue doesn't have great service to where we go from Austin. Actually, no one has the best service from Austin for whatever reason. We used American all the time from Logan to Charlotte before we moved. My son lives about 45 minutes from Charlotte and American has a bunch of direct flights between the two airports. . If I use my American Mastercard to book a flight for my wife she doesn't get the free checked bag, I have to be flying with her. So we have separate American Master Cards so we can fly separately without baggage fees.

Delta is good, but their credit card offer is only so-so.

My son flies for business weekly, sometimes several times a week. Enough that he has Platinum status with his American Master Card. We don't fly nearly enough for that

Anyway, we're looking for another Visa card to replace the Buswest one, maybe Costco.
