Glad to hear all went well with the hip surgery Anthony. Folks that have had both knee and hip replacements say the hip surgery is a snap compared to the knee...I hope this is true for you . Enjoy SC weather with winter coming up North. In Pa as well as NJ the weather is on a roller coaster with very little if any rain and the temps are up to mid 70s (some days) to mid 30's (at night). The "Fickle weather Witch" is playing games.

Have a good day and be safe.

Thanks for checking on me! I'm still alive and kicking. Just been keeping a low social media profile of late. The puppy changed my morning routine quite a bit, too. I hope everyone is well!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! And welcome back Ken and Mark. Foggy and not too cool this morning, and I thought I might get the greenhouse cover on after breakfast. But the sun popped out right after, just enough to kick the roof vents up and open. So, I think I will just have more coffee, and read the funny (on-line) papers.

Ken and Mark - good to hear from you and know that you all are ok. At our ages every day is precious and a blessing. Appreciate every minute. Every Wednesday a bunch of us retired old farts get together for breakfast. I really look forward to that. We’ve lost 3 over the last year. The most recent was a month ago. I thought this guy was one of the most healthy among us but a month ago he was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. He’s hanging in but no longer coming to breakfast. So yes live for today and count your blessings.

Ken - I’ve seen great reviews on the Shield EZ. Unfortunately I don’t have one. She has tried my various guns and we’ve rented a few for her to shoot. I think she’s leaning toward my Glock 19. I want her to make decision asap because there is a (stupid) 10 day waiting period in California. I would loan her a gun while she’s waiting but that is also illegal here (except in the case of close family members loaning a gun to another family member for less than 30 days). She is currently staying with her mom who is our friend and neighbor and lives in a different city. The psycho has no idea where she is staying/living. I just found out that she can’t take the range test for her ccw with someone else’s gun, so that will delay her ccw. (I knew this but apparently my brain stopped working) I’m hoping to get her to the gun store tomorrow to buy a gun (actually I want here to buy 2 guns). For now she and her mom have pepper spray, practiced with it and know how and when to use. I also gave them an aluminum baseball bat and another type of bludgeon that can be very effective.

Well time to get back to doing what I was doing which was nothing. Looking forward later to grilling a marinated tri tip and some asparagus and sitting back with a nice glass of red wine.

Gun laws in various states can be rather disheartening. Never had to take a range test or written test in PA for mine or the wifes CCW. I hope she gets a good pistol that she is comfortable with and passes the range test with flying colors (which she should with the instructor she has :)). Question Ken, If she buys a gun and doesnt have a ccw, can she still legally transport it with no problems?
Enjoy your dinner and glass of wine .

Ken - California, you must transport a gun in a locked container that is separate from ammunition and out of reach of the driver and passengers. You can transport any gun you own even if not ccw. If ccw you of course can transport loaded on your person.

Also you have to qualify for ccw with the gun you are going to use. You may qualify a max of 3 guns. Guns not qualified with you cannot carry concealed. Also the rules to obtain ccw are determined by the sheriff of each county. Some are easy some aren’t and take forever. Mine in Sacramento county are moderately difficult. I met our sheriff at a social event and I told him in a nice way that the ccw range qualification sucks. He hasn’t changed it so far.

For safety, I always kept the gun in a secure place and the ammo in an ammo can in the bed of the truck before I got a ccw. Our permits go through the local sheriffs department and they do run a background check on everyone just like when purchasing a firearm. Mine is up for renewal again in August but I'll put it in for it in July. Last time it was $20. Have to check to see if it is still the same price.

Have a good nite and have a glass of wine for me.

Good Morning Chuck :hattip:. Please send some of that warm weather temps up this way :).

    Morning Jim :hattip:.

:hattip:Morning Chuck, how was the ride to work this morning? Temperatures are getting more seasonal.

Nothing on the agenda until 6:30 PM when I have a monthly Mens Club meeting where we have something to eat (it can be pizza, pasta, hoagies, salad, etc.) plenty of beer and a guest speaker. This month is Davey O'Hannon. He is a retired WWWF Superstar Wrestler (never made the real big time). Should be interesting.

Have a good day and be safe.

@johneman Ken, sorry for the loss of your friend. I lost a good friend and family member a few months ago. Nice to see you posting gain. I took a sabbatical a few years back and it changed the way I look at social media.

@Devious6 Mark, I always enjoy your posts. So full of live and the pictures are always welcomed.

Good morning. I need to clean up the garage today and do some minor touch up paint around the home, getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner. I am going to cobble together some beans and hot Italian sausage stew for lunch with enough left over to freeze for future lunches. A little chilly at 39 degrees here this morning.

Thank you Mit, it's good to be back :hattip:

Hi Susan :hattip:, How is everything by you? My wife loves her EZ but it is only a 8+1 capacity. More would be nice, but this will do.

I will have to get a picture of the grand pups (now have 4) as my son and dil have my Gdaughters 2 pups. We now have Angus O'Malley, Arya, Oakly Joe and Rusty. all getting along really good.

 evening Ken, good to hear from you. So sorry about your friend.

Thank you Susan. I knew him for 22 years. He, at times was a pain in my ass and was always needing help with something but he had a heart of gold and would do anything he could for anyone. His wife passed 6 years ago and his daughter is special needs so I was more his family than friend. Gonna miss getting his phone calls.

Take care and have a good day and be safe.
