I'm going to date myself but that's okay, I never was a huge Linux guy but always had a couple boxes around with a distro on it for good measure. Yellow Dog, Red Hat, and openSuse were always my go-tos. Really like suse for the longest time, Arch these days feels similar in terms of community support, but Arch is lighter weight too like Mint used to be.

Closest is probably Arkansas, though I wouldn't be surprised to find one in SE Missouri somewhere.

GF and I make a point of seeking them out anytime we go somewhere, she lived in Reno for a long time and loved the ones over there.

Hot springs seem to draw those kinds of people. We were in one in New Mexico, hanging out with a couple of ladies we just met, and this dude walks up and strips. We didn't stay after that; I kind of wonder if that was his plan.

The good old ones for sure, though I have mixed feelings on Red Hat, especially after they got bought by IBM.

Arch does community support and documentation right. I like to use Archwiki as an example when I'm complaining about how shit our documentation at work is :(

It was on an obstacle, but nothing extreme. I think what happened was the tire fell into a hole, was at full droop and then hit the back of the hole with enough force to just snap it. No one was watching when it happened, he was back of the pack

That was bad, yeah. That's the dark side of retired vanlifers, they pull up and takeover those places. Pretty sure if a satellite was watching that day its optical sensor shattered.

Sorry, just saw this...I would stick to the more aggressive side of an A/T. Nitto Ridge Grappler, Toyo OC ATIII, Toyo R/T trail would be my top choices. Would give up some traction attributes in very cold conditions because of how hard the compound is but you need it on a 8000lb+ rig. But all of them are equally good I say. Had the Ridge Grapplers on my 2003 for almost 40k miles and they still showed 40% tread left when i sold it a couple months ago.

Yessir. The one stop shop in bum fucking nowhere. I had the mint chocolate chip and it ran through me like a fucking train  I knew there was a toilet at the hot springs so we hauled ass there. My favorite thing about fields is sometimes you will see bush plans in the parking lot, land on the road and roll in.

I think it would be my dream to run a shop like that. The bush planes would be icing on the cake.

I met some crazy Aussie dude out there too - had a beat up Montero, with some whacky homemade trailer that snapped a spindle on the gravel road. His wife was hanging out in a chair under an umbrella with their newborn while he figured out what to do. He didn't seem concerned one bit . I found the spindle from his trailer a little ways down the road -it lives on my toolbox now

I'm not sure I would want to live that far away from society. It's a cool area though, but damn it's remote. When you visited did you go check out Mickey's Hot Spring? Probably my favorite thing there, a mini Yellowstone.

I didn't, definitely have it on the go back list. I was short on time and just passing through on the way back from another trip. Camped overnight in the Alvord desert and left in the morning.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
I'm starting to see (2008) Model LC 200s price drop to the same level as 06-07 model 100s. Note the 200 has 283k miles. Owner history unknown. I've become so comfortable with the 98-02 100 simplicity and reliability, I'm I think owning something that high tech at that mileage would worry me more than on older model that I understand.. There are a number of owners that bought 200s and went back to 100s a few years later.

I get stuck on a given make/series and drive them until parts are NLA. Kind of like a 1st gen Tacoma.
