Deer hunting BS thread

Posted this a ways back.
If you're not in a hurry, you can bury a skull.
This was at my old place and I dug it up when we moved. Was in the ground, antlers wrapped in foil above ground with flower pots over them. Buried almost a year and a half.
Mother Nature did a pretty good job...

what can you tell us about that cover? I made one for mine and it has kept the dings and road rash at bay for over 25 years!

 

Think they were called gun chaps, had them since the 1990's. Not sure if they are still in business.

 

Seems like rifles started showing up more with stainless steel and stocks made from hockey pucks in the’90s.

I’m Still a sucker for the character of wood I guess

 

Did last years buckwill let that dry for a couple days and rap it in some leather

They finally cut the corn a few hundred yards below my stand this afternoon . Hopefully that will increase my deer sightings .

 

Well , 1st hunt of the season for me. walked to a saddle that was a flat no climbing walk. only saw one deer. a 15” 8 pt came through just feeding. hour later he came back through the way he came. pretty warm. deer not moving,locked down on does. front comes thru Wed. windy,cold,snow in the mountains. waiting to go Thurs. and Fri. with my youngest son. had a heck of a good time.

Congrats to your friend, that's cool how it has all the splits

 

so 15 yrs ago,while approaching my stand with my arms loaded with stuff, stand skirt, bow, normal hunting shit, i tripped over a rosethorn and crashed into the ground, resulting in a complete detachment of my right rotator cuff. Sept 2023, while walking across the parking lot of the dealership that i worked at for 32 years, I got distracted and walked directly into a fire hydrant, that had been there prolly 20 years prior to my 32.(guy at work got a little vid of the incident)

which resulted in a severely torn left rotator cuff. i retired a month after, and tried to put off surgery for last years hunting season to no avail. welp during the therapy recovery portion, all last spring and summer, i was over stressing my right shoulder, which has resulted in random severe pain.to the previously repaired cuff. Yesterday I go and see my surgeon, and after the x-ray, he recommended a cortisone shot to get me thru the holidays. So now that I have gotten that done, let's see how the rest of the season treats me, still bow here in murrilin, gun season opens 11/30 for 2 weeks, lets see if I can stay on two feet and upright for a lil while. got a lil vid of my friend telling me....
