Regarding the new poll. All my life I’m the one people would ask! Fixing/Building/Moving/Taking down trees. I got so tired of moving people I bought a license plate frame that said “Yes this is my truck…No I won’t help you move” I still ended up moving people. Most never paid, very few offered and all were disappointed if it wasn’t done to their liking. I’ve learned to not say yes so often. I now under-promise and over deliver. I don’t ask for help because I don’t want to be “that guy”

 

I have a hard time asking for help, the main reason I think is for fear of being let down. I've learned in the last several years to say no more than I used to.

 

Usually got my ducks in a row so I rarely require help. But when I do have to circle the wagons my go to Folks always come through. Likely bc I’m there for them.

 

I could and am often wrong but my money would be on a vent hole to allow any accumulated fumes to exit. Although I am guessing the cut was made with a grinder or cut-off wheel and probably produced lots of sparks?

 

I will go to YouTube to try to figure it out, first. If YouTube University doesn't help, then I try to find someone who can.

 

Why do I feel like ChrisFix made these?

 

Regarding the poll, mine is a complicated answer. Working in municipal recreation I have to ask for help often as volunteers are part of the success for many programs we offer. So on one hand I have to ask professionally. Personally I tend to search YouTube/internet for an answer unless I know of someone who is very knowledgeable about what I need help with. I am also lucky in that I married into a family that is always in each other's business. That cuts both ways, sometimes they know too much about my life but they are always there without asking to help, especially with big projects. We did not ask but they showed up multiple times to help when we moved. I will offer and accept help, but not from everyone. Some have burned me in the past so I do not offer to help or ask for help from that group. But I prefer people to be indebted to me than for me to be indebted to them. And I know the poll is somewhat generic and probably is not flirting with "help" being financial in nature but financial "help" is a whole other discussion.

 

I sure am in a giving mood on this fine (but way too warm) Tuesday!!!
