What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Finally pulled the trigger on some 5.29s (revolution - polished) and a front elocker (Eaton) with the ECGS bushing at Premier West Gears. Just drove home for the 1st break in cycle (20 minutes at 55 mph).

you can definitely feel the difference off the line the truck doesn’t feel like it’s trying so hard to move. Super excited about the results. Didn’t notice any whine or anything yet but also didn’t go too fast. Mpg went from the normal 16 to 18.6 (high hopes here). Haven’t seen mpgs like that since I got the truck.

going to do the rest of the cycles tomorrow and try to wrap up the initial cycles.

Update:
After a couple thousand miles I can definitely hear the gears when cruising 45+mph and around 80mph it feels like it’s going as fast as it should lol. Still loving how fast it is off the line now. Also mpg is around 17 again which is awesome.

 

More info please (PM me if needed), where was the remote start controller located and did/do you have a different remote start fob, or does it work with your smart fob??

I ask cause I would like the remote start feature if it has it, but not pay $$$ to add it on.. My truck only had right at 12K miles when I bought it and hard to believe, but possible, someone would remove it not long after adding it... I have looked under the drivers dash as well as under hood and see no sign of anything aftermarket except maybe the LED fogs...

 

I installed the RemoteX remote starter which operates from oem fob, and it's located behind/under the glove box somewhere.

 

Rear bumper step, stows away nicely and 15 minute install. And a light bar facing back over the rear, been meaning to do something like this for loading kayaks at night, farm work, cleaning fish etc. Both turned out well but may need to mount the light lower due to whistling at speed

2. When did Arizona Tea start making shock reservoirs?

 

Try hitting your key fob Lock, 3x times within about 3 seconds, that is how mine works. you have to time it just right, immediately after the lights finish flashing, press the lock again; sometimes it takes me two tries, to get the timing right. Also note, that if it is the older version of remote start, and you have push button start; the truck will shut off when you open the door. Newer systems have worked around this, but i can live with the extra start.

@memario1214 has one right now, just gotta message him. Otherwise it's showing up on pretty much any other site that stocks Dobinsons: Mudify, Exit Offroad, TacomaBeast, etc. Dobinsons themselves doesn't take any money off themselves I guess.

Are your chase lights wired to automatically kick on in reverse, or by switch panel?

 

I have tried so many different combos (including yours just now) it ain't funny for a couple of months now, as well as a few others helping me try it... lol

 

I would rather deal with a smell for 1 week then a rusted out truck.

I use Woolwax and Fluid Film and Woolwax does not have any smell.

 

Iced Tea Can FTW.

 

My TractorSupply stall mat for the truck bed (less expensive than Toyota official) smelled for a while in summer sun, still is noticable ... but things do not slip around. This is a truck, not a "garden party Cadillac".

 

Chase lights are on the switch panel! Rear bumper reverse light SS3s are switch panel and reverse lights. So the power to the rear of the truck (12v socket for fridge, etc) is on the switch panel, I need that on in order to have the reverse lights kick the relay on. That way I could toggle them on and off but they're still automatic with the reverse lights when that aux power is on. (they're extremely offensive even in the daytime )

Everytime someone pulls up behind me with blindingly bright lights I wish I had something extremely offensive in the rear to send back at them.
