    Hello all,

Just purchased my first tacoma today.
2010 Prerunner V6. 118k miles. Really well maintained by previous owner. I'm looking for suggestions on where to purchase aftermarket items for the truck (leveling/lift kits, running boards, head unit, tail lights, etc.) and any easy/fun mods that can be performed by an amateur. Also any maintenance things to look out for. Thanks!

That truck looks too clean to screw up with aftermarket parts. Do the head unit but keep everything else stock is my vote.

    Welcome!!

I'd do the head unit and running boards. Our tails are pretty long lasting, one of mine is original. The other isn't only because someone backed into it.

If you’re going to do the head unit, several are happy with Joying. I’m thinking of replacing my pioneer nex… with one. After the apple 18 update it’s not working right.

If you care at all about the quality of sound, upgrading the speakers is a must. Toyota played a joke on us, you’ll get it when you see what’s in there. More so when you hear the difference.

If you don’t already have it, add a backup camera. This is my first time having one. My brain plays a trick on me and I don’t know where to look when backing up but when there’s something there, there’s no more driving by braille.

I added the steering wheel control module which is something I could have done without.

If you didn’t get maintenance records assume nothing has been done ever. Start with an oil change, engine & cabin air filters, spark plugs, gear oil, inspect the brakes, belt, pulleys, fan clutch, battery, frame rust, leaks, tires. Regarding tires, mine looked perfectly fine but I was leaving rubber chunks in my driveway because they were so extremely old. I’m certain there’s things I didn’t list that others will add. But I’d get clean oil in it first. It’s a really easy task on these. Easier if you get a fumoto valve.

Appreciate the insight. I had the seller changed the oil prior to purchasing it so we are good to go there. I'll check on the filters next oil change and other fluids as well. I was thinking of doing the head unit first so I will be checking out that company, thanks!

Well I know there is a thread on this forum that shows how to do a black headlight mod. Ive done it. Not hard to do just gotta be comfortable putting the head light in the oven to soften the glue.
Cheaper mod doing it that way and not spending the money to buy aftermarket.

Lift you that all depends on what you wanna do and ride quality. Go to Toytec.com and see what they have for your year of truck. Easy lift would be some 5100

Taillights are sold those years. I wouldn't mess with them unless you absolutely wanna.

    Good luck, have fun

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
3rd gen to 2nd gen struts/coils, rear shocks and level it out.
Don't spoil it with running boards.
    Woolwax or similar the frame.
    Enjoy.

If that's truly the case, great! I'd highly recommend some sort of oil-based corrosion protection (Fluid Film, Woolwax, Krown, etc.) to keep it that way though. Otherwise, all of the money you spend on the truck may go to waste.

Hopefully prerunner means prerunner badge on the trunk mechanically 4x4 with white 4x4 on the mud flaps and not actually prerunner

Oh please, like there is anything wrong with a Prerunner, the O.P. won't have to deal with the 4x4 garbage system like thousands of other owners do every single week on TW.

Nope, means PreRunner. Don't think I'll be needing much of 4x4.

I've had my 4x2 for 12 yrs and driven in the snow many times with no issues, no complaints.
