Well, that is better than what I thought happened in your first post.
I just read, damaged by a fence post.

I thought maybe you slide off the road and into a fence post
    I mean, it happens.

But a fence post laying in the road?
Yeah that sucks. There wasn't even any fun involved in that accident.

I guess the only thing positive about it is, now it's on the cars history.
No need to let it sit in the garage and be a "collector" car.
Drive it. Run it hard, have fun with it.

It wasn't going to be a garage queen anyway, but I get your point.

I was dark out... It just sucked ass. Way too much road debris in CO.

We don't have too much issue with debris on the road here.
Mostly just deer this time of the year.

I did "almost" hit pig once. That's the craziest thing I've run across on the road.

TN is a nice place. I really liked being back out there. Forgot how much I missed it. The wife keeps talking about it, so I can see us venturing out again.

I almost hit a moose once in MT. We seen one the other day going to a buddies wedding.

Biggest wild game we have is Elk. And they are just now getting a good sustainable population.
They released a few back around the year 2000. If you are lucky (and you hunt). You might get drawn for a elk hunt.
I don't big game hunt anymore. I might hit the dove fields if I get a chance. But I haven't done that in 3 years or so.

To be honest, I'd almost rather plink, than hunt.

Me a some friends set up a 12" wide x 20" tall steel plate at 100 yards.
We get 5 rounds each, open sights, 22LR.
It's a blast....Once you figure out the hold over it's not "that hard".

There just something about hitting your target with open sights that so much more fun.
Scopes are nice. But it's like cheating......(not really, almost all my stuff has a scope on it)

Even more fun is pistols at 100 yards.
    22LR is SOOOOOO much fun.
Not easy, but that "diiiinnnnngggg" is so cool when you hit it.

One day l came over a hill and a cow was in the road, then a massive Bull came running off the hillside to protect her. I tried to creep forward a little and the Bull put his head down, so l stayed put until he managed to coax her back off the road.

I come across the occasional cow. Maybe once every couple years.
But a pig, not so much.

It was like, that that a BIG dog.
    Wait....That's not a dog. It's a PIG.

I started decorating the truck for Christmas yesterday, and it passed two very important tests…

    • Will the lights stay on at speeds above 45 MPH?
    • Will this be the year that local cops decided to be dickheads and pull me over?
    It passed both tests!

Also, with the exception of the lights on the front bumper, they run off of a plug rather than batteries. I had the lights plugged into the Generac, and the Generac plugged into an inverter that plugs into the Tacoma’s cigarette lighter. For the first time in years, the lights were actually running off the truck, but unfortunately by the time I took these pics the generator was not charging…

Tis the season. Always very festive. You and my wife would get along great.

Hell, I should send you up to the condo next week. You and Amanda would like it...maybe not the 9K ft of elevation though. Plenty of ice skating and things to do in Beaver Creek, CO.

    Looks cold.
    I don’t like cold.

I only like it because the poison ivy, ticks and chiggers die down in the cold. Other than that, I don’t want it any colder than 50-55.

It is frigid today. 22*, winds howling at over 25 mph. My GS seems to like it though.

    IMG_6243.jpg

There is a reason I have 8" walls. My duramax better enjoy its last night in the garage until I can sell my crawler. Mustang is coming home tomorrow.

Honestly, I think that cop in Souderton a year ago just really wanted to see my setup and had no intention of giving me a ticket. It was Thanksgiving Eve, which is probably the biggest drinking night of the year, and I got a lecture for being out on a night when there were a lot of drunks on the road, but the cop actually invited to get out of the truck so I could show him how everything was wired and then stopped traffic so I could leave. With the exception of Warrington, where I live and where most of the local police force knows me, I stick to touristy areas. Peddler’s Village is my favorite place to go. In New Hope a couple years ago, a cop actually pulled up alongside me in his patrol car and complimented my setup. Jersey, with the exception of Lambertville, is now a no-go with the lights on because I don’t want to push my luck. I would drive around in Edison, NJ with the lights on because my uncle was a cop there for thirty years and I could namedrop him if I got pulled over; Uncle Keith said that personally, he would not pull over a vehicle with Christmas lights during the holidays as long as the driver was otherwise obeying the law.

Again, I have lived in Warrington for nearly nine years; one Warrington Township cop said “no it’s not legal, but you’re fine.”

The Central Bucks Regional Police (Doylestown) leave me alone too.

I do however, hope for the best but expect the worst; I expect to get pulled over. My truck just passed the annual PA emissions test and safety inspection with flying colors last August and the inspection is good through October 2025, the registration is good through August 2025, and the insurance is up to date. I never have even one before driving the truck with the Christmas lights on, because in my experience the police more or less let you go with just a warning if you are sober.

One improvement upon prior setups is the ability to turn the primary light array on and off from inside the truck, so I can make the truck just a wee bit less of a target at the touch of a button!

So, the connector for the household plug on my Generac electric generator came loose, and I further tweaked it by bungee cording it into the end and running the cord through the rear window into the truck. It will run the Christmas lights, but it will no longer charge (luckily, it’s at 96%). This generator was a Christmas gift from my parents a couple years ago, and it cost almost a grand, so I’m going to get it fixed for both financial and sentimental reasons…

I bought this on Amazon with the intention of plugging the Generac into it, but just for grins I plugged the Christmas lights into it to see how well it works. This inverter can keep the generator charged, but if I plug the Christmas lights directly into it, the flash slowly. These lights are not supposed to flash, so 200W clearly was not enough power! I ordered a beefier 750W inverter, which arrived today, and it works great! I will post pics of the bigger inverter tomorrow…
