Hey Connecticut, our everything hurts

Just put in to use up the vacation days that I have left...

Had to squeeze the days in between my co-worker being out a shitload of days for the holidays because he saves up his vacation time to use up now.

One of the days off I'm taking is this Friday. Have a soccer tournament for the kiddo up in the Boston area this weekend, so took the day off to take him out of school early so we can drive up.

 

These new "smart" battery chargers can be great but sometimes they can really screw you over. I still have an old school roll around one here I keep for the times my smart charger acts stupid.

Curious as to what the problems are you have with the smart charger

 

They will sometimes see a very dead battery as bad or not recognize it at all. I've read stories of guys having to connect a good battery in parallel with the dead one, then connect the charger, then once it gets going they remove the good battery to trick it into starting a charge. I'd also be willing to bet an old fashioned charger set at a lower setting would have continued to provide the voltage and current to avoid the scenario superwhite ran into. They can be great for resuscitating a battery sometimes though.

 

Getting vacation during the holidays can be dicey here too. Our vacation gets replenished in May and we pick our block weeks in order of our seniority in March. The senior guys pick weeks like Christmas and New Year's but I've been able to get Thanksgiving week the last couple of years so I can bank 2 holidays in one week. Since a lot of the workers are off Christmas week my boss has to schedule less trains to inspect which means two of us supervisors can take off in a single day rather than just one. I never have the problem of having vacation left over though. It's always gone begire April.

 

Boston? Dare I ask..

 

Well... not really "in" Boston, but nearby I guess.

Staying in Quincy, and our are games are in Weymouth.

 

Even closer to me than Boston haha

 

I mean if you want to make a detour and see the hometown of Joe Lauzon....

 

Not sure what we'll be doing to be honest.

Games are Saturday at 9:15am and 11:45am. Then not sure if they want to do something as a team in the afternoon.

Then Sunday at 9:15am again, and then I think depending on how we do in our 3 games we may or may not have a final in the afternoon.

 

Today was another joke of a day.

Watching another tech struggle with electrical diagnosis.

 

Verizon bill came today. Up $20 from last month, $30 from a year ago, and $40 from 2 years ago. A phone call to them and it's magically down $45 now. Why do we have to play this stupid game?
