I received my supercharger yesterday from Tacoma beast. I starting reading the manual witch is very thorough and easy to read. Then I looked over at the magnuson site to start the tune process and I found this..

"The initial launch will ONLY support calibration of stock and lightly modified vehicles. Trucks with stock gearing and wheel/tire combinations that do not exceed 33" will qualify. Our Engineering Team is continuing calibration development for more heavily modified Tacomas and will be available soon!"

I'm a little disappointed to read this on the magnuson site and read nothing about this on the Tacoma beast site. So now I have this supercharger staring at me and magnuson doesn't recommend me installing it yet.

I feel like most people wanting a supercharger probably have gears and 33+ tires. So I thought this was good info to share. Hopefully they come out with a proper tune for guys with gears and bigger tires soon!

Really? I just saw TB install video last week and he had 33+ and non stock gearing. I guess that didn't include the calibration for what they're offering and showing?

What does the gearing and tires size have to do with the supercharger? First gen guys run the supercharger with aftermarket gears and 37" tires with zero issues. Have you called Magnuson?

Yeah, idk. There must be some small issue magnuson found with "heavy modified trucks”. Magnuson said they are working on it but no timeline on when it might be resolved.

Yeah, they said they may or may not be an issue. They recommend waiting for a tune to get polished out for a heavily modified vehicles before installing.

Install it and flash the tune they send you and don't worry about it. I have a heavy truck with 33's and 4.88 gears and have no worries installing the base Magnuson tune. It is designed to make the SC safely work with the engine. True the shifting won't be 100% optimized but it will be a better driving experience than stock

They'll refine the tune in the future, send you an update, and it will be better.

Edit: My SC will be shipping next week (hopefully) and i'm going to fill the form out stating that I have a heavy truck, 33's, and 4.88s. They wrote the tune for Tacomabeast on 35's with gears and a SUPER heavy truck already so i'm not too worried

I’m installing the blower on my truck next month. I’m going to be using the OTT supercharger tune; not the one that comes with the kit.

is it safe to just install the OTT TUNE?
I wouldn’t have to install the Magnuson tune, then install the OTT tune, right?

I wouldnt install the tune without the blower installed on the truck. Also OTT wont sell you the tune unless you vet the install with Magnusson tune. He recommended 100+ miles on the Magnusson tune before installing his tune. He doesnt want to be blamed for a bad install.

OTT actually just informed me of this exact thing.

looks like I’m flashing it back to STOCK, flashing it the Magnuson tune, putting 200 miles on the truck, then flashing OTT tune

def the way to go. you will like the OTT tune but if you only have tires and gearing you would have been fine. The OTT tune will def help and its great but once you start getting into mods is when tune is needed.

Enjoy They are tedious but not overly complicated install

I used a shop that could do the physical install and i just installed the tune in the parking lot before handing them the keys. So it ran from the parking lot to the garage with the magnuson tune.
