How big of an issue is this? I have to take it in for an oil change soon anyways. I'm the furthest thing from an expert but it looks to be a weep as I am not seeing any drips on the asphalt. I have parked in the same spot for almost 2 years now, leaving it for weeks on end at a time lol.

If this does require a repair, is it expensive? I'm out of warranty (still have powertrain warranty tho) and I don't think the tsb/recall or whatever applies to my year, of course...

Please help this dummy out and tell me if I should worry about this or not. Thanks all!

You are not a dummy for asking and wanting to care for your truck!
To me? It's no big deal, I'd leave it,,, especially since it's not weeping enough to drip.

Thank you!! I think you've replied to just about every single one of my topics and I just want to say I really appreciate your time and the knowledge you have about these vehicles!

Everyone here is so smart and I feel so silly asking all these questions, but I appreciate everyone who takes the time to answer (you included of course)! I'll never be an expert but it's always fun to learn about new things :D

I agree with what @Chew said, especially about caring for your truck! I had the same weep show up under warranty and the dealership just noted the issue but said they wouldn’t fix because it was not considered bad enough. I cleaned it up and have been monitoring and it’s been dry for a while now - weird, but I’ll take that any day.
    Happy trucking…

I’d cinch up the nuts on the differential to 18 ft lbs to make sure they’re not loose. That alone may stop any seepage.

They shouldn’t shear at 18 ft lbs. and on the bigger diff (which OP doesn’t have) they shouldn’t shear at 30 either.

Post #1931 has PDFs of the recall on 2016 and 2017 weeping rear ends. Lots of pictures and info as you address the weep on your 2020.
