To me it’s a tool or an instrument. No different than guns & knives for example. Each has a purpose & the mindset that comes with that. Don’t get me started about high end audio. :frusty:

And I think that's a great thing! Many find the meaning behind my watches a tad "corny".....:anonymous:

My Omega was the same. I purchased new in 2009 as a gift to myself after buying our Motel. Worn everyday and maybe 2 people have commented on it in 15 years.

:rofl:I hope no one is stupid enough to answer yes to this. Thousands of $$$ for a $50 watch.

This is what has made it so hard for me buying a watch. I use a garmin fenix pro solar 7 as my daily driver, but I’ve always wanted a “higher” end nicer looking watch for daily. But surfing, and working in the fire department has made me always rethink buying one lol

Frac Sand & -40. The back of the old Seiko says it all. Pretty much the same deal as Surfin’ & Smokeating. Get what you feel comfortable with. I feel naked without one.

Ya was debating between and ssk and citizen NY0150-51A figured the price point isn’t horrible and I could use and abuse it. I was looking for a nice field watch but like the look of those more

    I thought the same way.

I found my happy place with the ~$200 Seiko 5 watches.

Very nice watches that do get compliments, yet a decent of a nice price, I never think "oh, shit! I think that was an expensive noise", when I beat the shit out of it.

I do beat the shit out of it.

Rolex has a reputation for people that can name an expensive watch brand. Grand Seiko has a reputation for people that know watches. You should always wear what you like though. I've owned Omega before but my Marine Master 300 with Grand Seiko movement and all hand polishing feels way more alive to me.

Ironically, the reason I wear a sub is because the damn thing is indestructible. I have managed to destroy every other watch I’ve worn because I literally wear them everywhere. The only thing I don’t do with automatic watches is shoot with them. The conclusive shock from recoil, especially during matches and rapid fire can damage them.

The only comment I’ve ever received on the watch is that’s the “cheap” version, because it has no date, but the reason I got a watch with no date is because I don’t wanna fuck with the date every month plus I can’t see it, even under magnification, unless I’m wearing my reading glasses so it’s pointless.

I can't stand it when people say "cheap version" of anything. That said, I HAVE had some range time with my Tudor, and it seems to have been unaffected. Although that's only been exposed a couple of trips, 450 rounds of ammo, and I wear it on my non dominant arm.

We’re talking about thousands if not tens of thousands of rounds. I’ve had an omega coaxial movement die on me, non-dominant hand, and other guys who shoot a lot tell me that they’ve had similar experiences. Not sure if a Rolex would fare better. I also don’t take it mountain biking mostly because I’m scared I’m going to hook something and the bracelet is not going to give away and might break my wrist.

Good advice! I haven't done it since. Rolex is know for its reliability, so I kinda think it would fare better than any of my omegas. Just my opinion, and I could be wrong.
