I get those all the time. I like to play along and when they ask for the credit card number I just start listing off random digits. When the ask to repeat I just do random numbers again. My record is like 14 times of me just listing off random numbers before they hung up.

The last one I had was posing as my credit union trying to get me to confirm the 3 digit security code on my credit card. I called my credit union with my work line and put both of them on speaker phone and let my credit union and the scammer argue. It was pretty funny and they argued for longer than I expected.

DPI has a lot fewer brands associated with it now. I wonder who purchased them.

    https://dpioffroad.com/brands

Now it's only Daystar, Performance Accessories, and VooDoo Offroad

I've been working on the 87 pickup.
Turns out the clutch is fine. The master cylinder fluid was low.

Battery showed 3 volts so I replaced it. Cleaned underneath the battery and covered the rust with fluid film for now.

The 28" tires held at most 15 psi. As I was filling them up, I came across one valve that was really loose. I thought, "I wonder why it is not leaking more" then, Psssssssh! as the tire exhaled when the broken valve fell to the ground. So, I put the smaller spare on, but it only held air for about 24 hours.

I did a @Wulf thing and found some wheels and tires on craigslist. Toyo Pros in Commerce City had the period correct aluminum wheels that I was looking for. They happened to have 31 x 10.5 (actual measured height =29.25") Mesa A/P2 tires on them. Mesa A/P2?? Never heard of them. Google says Mesa is owned by Big O Tires and manufactured by Cooper Tire and Rubber Company. I did a @JasonLee thing and checked the date code - 3212, which means they were manufactured in August 2012. So far, they hold air, the rubber is still supple, and they are not cracking. I just need them to roll the vehicle around for about 6 mouths or so. The aluminum rims had some corrosion, so I spent about an hour per wheel sanding it off with 320 grit wet sandpaper dipped in vinegar. They look like this now:
    IMG_6116.jpg

    IMG_6123.jpg

I read a @303tacoma post, whose signature reminded me to clean the plastic bed liner, so I did:
    IMG_6103.jpg

The interior is ragged as you might expect from a 37-year-old vehicle with original cloth seats. The center console plastic by the shifters is broken off on the passenger side. I think I will buy some Wet Okole seat covers. Not sure what to do about the plastic.
    IMG_6106.jpg

I replaced the diffs, transmission, and transfer case gear oil. The old oil looked acceptable and the magnet on the bolts had about this much metal on each of them, which doesn't look too bad to me:
    IMG_6124.jpg

I took it for about a 10 mile drive. The temperature gauge was reading high at the end of the trip. When I got home, I opened the hood and could hear a gurgling sound like radiator fluid boiling and noticed some steam in the overflow reservoir. Those symptoms indicate to me low pressure in the cooling system. After things cooled down, I took off the radiator cap and noticed some corrosion at the radiator opening. It looked like an uneven surface between the radiator cap and the corroded radiator opening, causing the seal to leak. The radiator cap looked new, and the rubber gasket was still supple. So I cleaned the radiator opening to even the surface again.
    IMG_6125.jpg

I took it for the same 10 mile drive and the temperature gauge read normal the whole time. Yey! I hope that was the problem. I'll keep an eye on the temperature to make sure.

I think I will create a build thread for this 87 pickup. Does anyone know which section it belongs? Maybe just create another thread in the 1st gen section? Maybe it belongs in a different forum?

Going for a little road trip down to the Grand Canyon next week from Junction. Planning to hit Goblins and Bryce, and just a drive through Zion. Anything super cool I should put on my list, never been down that way before.

My understanding is that DPI has filed bankruptcy, and is selling or closing all of its brands. Last I had heard, Doug was trying to buy Toytech back from them. Although I have to admit I might be confusing some of the DPI stuff with the wheel pros stuff. Both large corporations are in the crapper. I know 4wp was bought back by the original owner, and many other brands had clauses in their original sales requiring the original owner to have the first right of refusal for buying their company back

Seems to be the unfortunate reality of these parent companies. They tend to either breathe new life into refreshing a company or run it into the ground. We are watching the early stages of this with Randy’s. Yukon has fallen off hard, while icon is getting totally revamped with high quality product lines. As a dealer, it sucks. It seems like once per month I have to stop recommending and selling a brand that I’ve been working with for years, while starting to work with others that I never thought were high quality, but are now taking over the market with quality product

I visited the Four Corners a few years ago on my way back from the Grand Canyon. The Navajo Nation was in a big Covid-induced rut at the time; most of the vendor stalls were vacant. I don't know if they've come back from that.

The monument itself is a novelty. Definitely stop by if you're close but I wouldn't say it's worth a huge detour if you aren't already heading that way. For me, I enjoyed the irony of paying $5 to the Navajo Nation to stand on a random little bit of land that's only considered significant because the US Government drew some imaginary lines across it. I kept the receipt as a souvenir.

It's especially vexing since the lines are in the wrong place. It has been incorrect since mapping and never corrected.

    Careful about playing with them.

They’re also recording your voice for often used phrases for ID verification. Like “yes.”
