I put a Hogue grip on the one my wife annexed, she likes it. Let me explain. When I went to visit My Chief for two weeks September a year ago, I gave her my S&W 38 spcl Body Guard and told her to keep it where she could get to it. She had shot it at the range previously. A few months after I returned I inquired to it's whereabouts. She replied I've got it and I'm keeping it. She likes it because of the internal trigger...no trigger to catch pulling it out of wherever; and despite a rather heavy double action trigger pull, it's pretty much flawless operation...pull the trigger five times it's gonna fire 5 times. There's no slide to jam feed or "bite" you if your grip is off. Just my 2¢ FWIW. It's not necessarily a fun range gun, but for an everyday easy to carry, reliable close in defensive weapon, it fits her needs.
My final thought on the subject, the right gun is the one you can shoot accurately, reliably, consistently, and carry comfortably...so that you will carry it.

If anyone is wondering, I initially bought it to carry on the zodiac style boat in case we needed to shoot a large (huge) halibut before bringing on board the relatively small boat. That was my only purpose for it at the time. This is what we have, complete with Hogue grip:

I'm a little unsure about trigger pull. When I was shooting for my carry permit, the anticipation was bad. I would squeeze and sometimes I thought I'd given enough pressure, but I hadn't. So I'm not sure if a lighter trigger pull would be better or if that would be worse.

Obviously, some things are going to change with practice, but I don't know my gun skills/or lack there of well enough.

Do most ladies prefer a lighter pull? or heavy? I'm probably not an outlier, so it would make sense to know how the majority goes on this.

Also, here are my questions from this poll:

    1. what does LR stand for?
    2. What does ACP stand for?
    3. Is a double action trigger the one where the safety is in the trigger? I get a little lost in terms. I feel like I should know this already, but I may not remember. But I'm not scared to ask cause I'd rather know and feel stupid than not know and do something stupid. ;)

My hand guns I prefer a heavier pull
On my AR's I prefer lighter.
    Just my preference though:)

LR is long round like 22 long round 22 short round

    ACP means automatic cult pistol
I don't know but I think that most 9 mm most 45s are semi-automatic or even automatic when you start getting into the bigger rounds like 38 special 357 that's when the single fire comes into position

    If it's referring to 22LR it's 22 "Long Rifle"

Double trigger is a gun that'll cock itself and fire when you pull the trigger.

Depends on the pistol. If you have a single action/double action its going to have a longer trigger pull. If its a striker fired like a Glock type its going to have a medium trigger pull.

You really dont want a light trigger pull for CCW pistol in my opinion. In a CCW extreme stress situation a longer trigger pull isnt going to matter.

Another thing about the trigger pull for @Gen1TacoLady
If you aren't sure, dry fire the gun - pull up the slack in the trigger to the wall
You can feel the slack and you can feel it stop, right before the trigger fires the gun
Stop at the wall, make sure your aim is correct and then push the trigger thru the wall
It should feel like pushing a button, not require a good deal of force and you should be able to manipulate it with just your finger, not torquing your hand

SA/DA Hammer Fired [as opposed to a striker fired, which only has one pull weight, usually closer to a SA pull]
DA - heavy trigger pull, cocks the gun and fires the gun
SA - once the gun is cocked, the SA pull is much lighter
I consider the DA heavy pull a safety [even though it is not a real safety to some] - you cannot accidentally pull it

@wilcam47 please feel free to amend/augment
