No cross-swapping ... just front-to-back on the same side?

I put the truck in 4WD, place the rear axle on two jack stands, and remove the rear tires.

I cross them and place them near the front.

Then I jack up one front tire at a time and switch it out.

I use an impact wrench to make it easy.

Same here always worked well for me even tire wear and tires always exceed manufacturer warranty no issues.

Why not just buy another pair of 6 ton jack stands and be safe, $55 at Lowes...

    https://www.lowes.com/pd/Big-Red-To..._YoF1cePeKLr1nmrM3pGmvPL4Y8VDXHlQ-F1EtVSqu8wQ

If I only had one pair of stands, I would put the front of the truck with the most weight (normally) on stands and remove the front wheels, then move them close to the new location and slide them partly under the truck frame (incase the jack lets go), then jack up the rear pumpkin and replace one rear tire at a time, putting the removed tire under the truck partly, then lower the rear back down and finish the job... Not as safe as having stands under the rear, but something is there to keep the truck from possibly crushing you if the jack fails...

If you have any feathering/cupping, then those tires need to be crossed when rotated as long as they are not directional...

BTW, I have 3 shop floor jacks, 12 stands and 4 ramps...

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
I rotate my own tires. Just buy another set of jack stands brother.

I kind of skimmed through the responses, but I do this all the time. I jack up the front, and put jack stands on both sides. Then, I put the Jack under the rear differential and lift the rear. Rotate tires, lower the rear, and then move the Jack back to the front and lower the front.

What do/did you do about the tpms issue?

I just bought the truck about 6 weeks ago and had new tires installed a couple of weeks ago so haven’t did the rotation yet.
When I picked up the 5 new tires they only installed 4 sensors but I plan on getting the 5th installed when it’s time to rotate.
I’m hoping there will be no issues.
My Jeep has sensors in all five tires and there is no issue when I rotate them so hoping it will work with the truck.

^^This. I have a good jack, the truck's not going anywhere. If it would fall, it just lands on the drums and I could still get my jack under it to jack it back up. Besides, I don't have any reason to go under the truck while I'm rotating tires.

edit: I do have a second (and third) set of jack stands...I'm just lazy.

How do you figure? You put the spare on the left rear. Move the left rear to the left front, move the left front to the right rear, move the right rear to the right front, then replace the spare with the right front. Not sure why a person would want to jack the vehicle up 5 times, but if you didn't have jack stands, you could.

Our trucks only have 4 spots for tpms sensors in the ecu. You’ll need to get a usb>obdII dongle and a copy of tech stream, Carista, or a tpms programmer to have the truck read the 4 tires on the ground instead of 3 and your spare if you plan on doing your own 5 tire rotation

My Jeep only reads 4 tires at a time as well but when I put the spare in the rotation it has no problem reading it and disregards the tire on the carrier. And I know its not reading the tire on the carrier because when I air down it reads the 4 tires correctly.

It may only read 4 at a time, but it stores 5 TPMS sensor serial numbers. Huge difference. Tacomas, due to an oversight by Toyota can only store 4.

Yeah, I really don’t have an idea what will happen but I’ll find out in a few thousand miles when I do the first rotation. I guess worst case I change location of the sensor from the tire going to the spare location to the one on the ground.

This is how I do it at my condo with 2 stands and a jack. Ground isn’t completely level so I find it safer to do it this way to prevent truck from rolling w/o having any wheel chocks.
