Busted performing work per specific instruction
We have these heavy duty charcoal filters that should be changed every 6 months when in use. They don't always get used so it's been 5 years. The company wanted us to empty the charcoal instead of buying a new $1300 filter. Ok respirator, nitriles and outside. A few little pieces hit the ground as it's dumped into a 55 gallon drum. I sweep it up, into the drum. Hose off the concrete. Done. Boom there's safety asking questions about what got hosed.

It's all in a work order, documented. If there's an issue, take it up with the engineer that wrote the document.

The sun shines on a dog's @$$ now and then it seems -- always check out the clearance items at HF. ;)

    The packaging was really beat.

    KIMG4619.jpg

Two scuffs and this dent (in the back) was worth $65 off.

    KIMG4618.jpg

Right next to the tool chest was this handy 3/8" drill with no box or paperwork, I plugged it in right in the store - sounds fine.

This chest has but one solitary drawer -- and came with 4 keys. :notsure:

My dad bought a drill from there once, my brother tried to drill a hole with it. Burnt it up. He unplugged it and threw it in the trash

Tool cart is nice, I’d like to have one of those

Boss bought this one several years ago. It’s full of lathe tooling. One of the tool holders cost more than the box

For less than 12 bucks why not :notsure: .

Used only for light work it should be fine, if not I'll report back with the autopsy results.

The HF power tools of 20 years ago were the same junk grade that was sold at the rolling tool sales that set up on the legion hall every year.

I believe HF has made great strides to move upscale from those days and to fill the place of departed consumer brands like Craftsman, Skill and Black & Decker.

I bought this sheet metal shear for $65 IIRC and used it like a rented mule when I installed the furnace. Had it in the cellar, attic, dropped it in the mud and it never missed a beat.

I got my $65 back on that job.

Then we used it on the GMC project, if it had died mid-job I would have gotten another immediately.

This^^as been a godsend. Rollin’ around the house is far better than using the sticks. Dog likes it too but now she thinks it’s the stool that’s stopping me from walkin’, Lol.

I don't think day to day professionals use many HF tools, however for occasional use they generally offer a great value.

Guy ask me if I could make him one of these for his stove. 2” wider, 3” longer on the back. Same hole locations and 1/8” thick instead of 1/16”.

I said I’ll get you a price, we don’t have sheet metal or sheet metal machines.

Got the boss to draw it and send it to two places for quotes. They both said the leg on front and back is too short to bend. It’s 1/2”, they need 1”. I said add it and I’ll cut it off.

One place said $300, one said $350.

That’s what I told my friend, he said that is high. He then said he found a piece of 1/8” metal that was 24” x 24” and ask would that work?

I said yeah but you still got to find someone to bend it, we can’t.

That also doesn’t add in cutting it down and adding the holes.

Aunt Bee, just pay the man.
