Do you have LED bulbs or headlights installed? Some have fans that run and with the truck off and the headlights on they are really easy to hear.

I was just thinking that it might just be the sound traveling through the engine bay and maybe an easy thing to check. Besides that, have you done any add a fuse or anything in the fuse box? Maybe something is getting ready to fail.

For video, you’d have to upload to YouTube then share a link.

Maybe @caribe makaira can chime in with an idea?

Sounds like to me it’s a lose connection in the fuse box. Open the top and see if that’s where it’s coming from

Diagnosing sounds over the Internet is hit or miss but to me it sounds like a bearing going out. You might want to check the idler pulleys, the alternator, AC compressor, etc.

Do you know how to make a poor man's mechanic's stethoscope? Get a short (say 2½ or 3 feet or so) length of garden hose or something like that and hold one end to your ear and one to the various pulleys and you should be able to find the source of the noise. Assuming it is one of the pulleys.

Caution! Watch your fingers! Moving fan blades and serpentine belts can be unforgiving if you get too close.

Edit: Roll up your shirt sleeves and no rings, watches, etc. to be extra safe.

You should diagnose the source of the noise. It’s 6 yo. I didn’t see the mileage but it could be a $100 fix, I’d do a little more investigation before throwing out the baby with the bath water.

so it's a 1,000 miles off needing it's second major service interval where spark plugs need to be changed, and most of the fluids need to be at least checked for issues in diffs and transmission, as well as a verify of all major rotating/moving assemblies in the driveline and steering assemblies..

when people say toyota's are reliable, it means they generally need less parts than other brands, not that they'll go 300k miles with zero parts. but vehicles are only as reliable as the effort one puts into them. if you're only 'gas-n-go', it's going to fail sooner rather than later. as long as you keep up on general preventative maintenance, and follow the service interval recommendations, toyota's are generally reliable. they definitely don't have major issues that like to pop up out of no where like some other brands.

my 2014 toyota/subaru brz is cresting 58k miles, and has already gotten a new battery, 3 sets of tires, a brake fluid flush, new serpentine belt, and 2 idler pully's, with a 3rd threatening me for attention, with the same plugs and fluids stuff coming up as well, but i also need to separate the transmission from the engine to change the throwout bearing to get ahead of a very common issue in the pre-2017 cars of the bearing committing suicide at 50k-70k miles.

but even with that list of parts, it's also the least parts i've ever thrown at a vehicle, ever for traveling almost 60k miles. my ranger i had before the tacoma, which was at 130k miles, and was the most recent previous reliable vehicle i had, despite having it for only about 5 years, i had a new battery, plugs, wires, belt, tires, brakes, rear suspension mounts, the entire front suspension re-built, and all the interior door switches replaced. i was somewhere near $8-10k in costs for all that, and it was still a great truck, i only sold it for the money i could get out of it to get the tacoma that i really had my heart set on for those 5 years, but had other financial requirements to deal with.

Changing them early won’t hurt anything. Possibly a loose spark plug or wire too causing that sound. Just remember for the next interval

did you open the fuse panel and check all the fuses. Could probably push on each one with the truck off. They’re tough to pull out normally so it’s unlikely but anything is possible.

absolutely. there's nothing about them that says it must wait. officially, toyota's maintenance schedule says to change them at 60k, but many here have gone 80-100k without issues. be aware that many also have found the original plugs loose, causing running issues--so i like sticking to the official replacement schedule somewhat to fix and correct those issues as well as possible.

be prepared to potentially replace the coils from damage or odd firing. officially, they're not on a service interval list, but as with any electrical device-- they need to be physically removed to get to the plugs, and sometimes fussing with them can be enough to jiggle something that they won't want to work the same afterwards. but they also tend to cost a lot, so it's not something i'd normally suggest outright replacing with the plugs.

also, i really only recommend getting plugs from toyota dealerships--parts stores 'should' be ok, but some have had documented fakes with inferior metals/manufacturing, and Amazon is entirely a crapshoot on getting fakes or not, regardless of part number or validity claimed on any product page.
