Then after all that comparison, he settled for an older Tundra, not a Landcruiser

Watched it too. I thought it was very well put together, especially the photo comparisons that went back and forth between the two trucks to show differences in suspension travel, wheel clearance, articulation, etc.

I did think the cost comparisons at the end were a bit misleading. He said you could drop the premium package on the 4th gen and only have about a $5k difference to pay for all the improvements on the 4th gen.

Reality is, a fully loaded 3rd gen with premium / advanced tech packages went for around $42k-44k depending on timing during the 2020-2023 model years. A comparable 4th gen is over $55k, for a $11-13k difference apples to apples.

I'd like to see a video on what more I'm getting specifically in a premium package between gens. Better infotainment, comfort features, etc. Is it worth it?

I agree. Especially the Crawl Control differences, which yes were pretty significant, but simply hitting the gas pedal on the 3rd gen took care off the issue. Bottom line, I'm still impressed what mine can do, and knowing there will always be better out there, I can settle with what I have.

Toyota is still the Jeep recovery vehicle for a reason. And sure the Ford Ranger is almost a close comparison, but Toyota us still the leader.

He was talking specifically about offroad features for a given price, so you are both right, just depending on your priorities.

Yeah, I gave the 4th gen two thumbs up after watching the video. Though, I thought Tinker went off the rails at the end of the video where he tried to massage in where the value was between to two generations and the shit on why he went with Tundra. ….Me thinks Toyota doesn’t see his value the way he does.

I agree with Tinker about the missing long bed/ short wheelbase configuration on the 4th gen. I won’t be buying one, just for that reason.

That said, the older Tundra he chose to buy is too wide for many trails in the Cascade mountains, so I don’t know where that leaves me.
