Morning folks....Getting ready to head to the farm to do more grappling and build a fire to stay warm.

 

I’m waiting on the first headline of the season where they don’t drag it out…..

Finally got my rusted-solid spare tire carrier off . It’s amazing what a little amount of heat will do I’d say a 4 one the PITA scale due to minimal clearance between the cross member it mounts to and the composite bed. Of course the bolts mount from the top

Current conditions- 37 degrees and raining. Weather app says at noon, it’s going to be 37 and snowing…. I’m gonna guess it’ll be a heavy snow.

 

Just paid my tax bill 42% increase .
They came out and reassessed and finally got the bill 2 weeks ago. We lowered the tax rate for you .

 

Morning crew happy Saturday . 3/4 of my team went home or didn't come to work yesterday. By the end of the day there was 6 of us. I got to wear several different hats too. Forklift driver, leaf blower technician, pipe plunger, shoveler, oh yeah my favorite lead crew person.

Power is still off.

I started up an ancient kerosene burner this morning. It will digest 2 gallons in about 12 hours but provides a lot of heat, 22,000 btu.

We used to use them regularly but when the fuel price went through the roof ($5+ gallon) they are for backup only now.

Seeing the yard in daylight -- a real disaster, lots of bits-o-tree.

Good morning shop crew, have a great and blessed Saturday.

 

Had everything packed up to go hunting this morning, then I turned the wrong way and my back said “Nope, no hunting today!” Now I’m sitting here with a TENS unit feeling like I’m wasting a good Saturday.

 

getting old sucks! Tweaked my back in oct....took me almost 2 weeks to get back to normal...

 

Almost the same but I got a ton of stuff to do. Took one step out the door with the sticks & nearly lost it on the ice. I get all the foot wires removed in two weeks & all I could remember was the surgeon’s voice saying don’t bend those rods. My list is now cut in half.

 

it's a life goal of mine to meet one person that has injured themselves doing something cool/heroic. i haven't met a single person yet that can stand by their injury proudly like they show in the movies...

 

I used to know a guy who hurt himself getting up off the commode...

 

He tanked your groups safety record IIRC

I can remember that but not half the stuff my wife tells me.

 

Back aches are not in short supply around here. Last Monday we did a job replacing and repairing some pool equipment. It was under a low cover that weight about 200lbs. We removed it and there was a 20” step down. We got everything done. I went to step up and out and felt a sharp pain in my lower back. It’s just now beginning to feel better. Now it’s just a constant dull pain.

 

I think its time for me to go do my stretches..

Everything hurts from lifting weights (which is good) but I'm rocking a brace right now because my right elbow has been killing me for the last few weeks.

 

Cold doesn’t help either

 

At least I'm not alone in the aches & pains club...

Pain is like a bucket with a hole in the bottom, your energy, drive, productivity (and even attitude) can drain away with alarming speed.

On the brighter side - a truck from the electric Coop went by, quick trip down the dead end road and back, hopefully doing an inspection before turning the power back on. Well over 24 hours now.
