Rusty man o man hope power comes on soon.

I left that job very soon after this. That's how I fixed it.

I've shared the story with how I knew this kid was a know-it-all doofus(the worst kind of all doofus')...

I got floated to 3rd shift at my last job at a different facility working on(baby sitting) an Auxiliary Power Unit that supplied basically air conditioning to the inside of the Orion capsule that just flew into deep space on SLS two years ago..the unit is Hydrazine powered, hypergol compatible, runs steady at 120+db
I'm in for a two week rotation of this, 5 8's. I show up the first Monday night and tie in with the engineer. There's a senior tech and doofus'. Senior says I'll catch you boys around midnight and we'll walk down the unit. Tidy up paper work first. Senior disappears.

Doofus' says let's go walk it down I wanna show you some stuff. The unit itself is double ear protection required within like 25 feet. It's friggin screaming. I'm like ok. First mistake. Let me get my ears. Our paperwork requires an hourly read off from the units digital display. 10 minutes in I'm over it. He's willy nilly opening and closing valves, changing settings and I know our paper calls for none of it. I tell him I'm going back inside. He stays out there fiddlefarting until senior gets back, solid hour and a half.
Senior says I told you guys we would walk it down at midnight what's he doing out there? I said well we had to get the reading and then make some adjustments. Senior starts flipping out. He says that television right there has a live readout of the reading you need every hour. You don't even need to go outside. Doofus knows this and didn't share it.

I shared my displeasure with doofus'. I took my hourly readings from the conference room inside for the remainder of the 2 weeks and didn't say much more to the guy after that.

The neighbors son came by and said "What the heck happened here? This is the worst I've seen anywhere."

Move to the country they said...
You can have a big beautiful yard they said...

    Yeah, right.

The irony here is that I just had it looking pretty fair when I mulched up all the leaves last week. :annoyed:

Yeah, typical Ice ‘n Wind action. Few years back one hit here before all the tree leaves even dropped. They’re still cleaning up after that. City arborist said it could be up to 4 years. That’s if nothing else occurs but always does.

On the bright side the power is back on after almost 30 hours.
This is the longest outage I can remember in all the 30+ years I have been here.

Crazy. I was going to say yesterday, you could use oven for heat but i dont think the new ones you can turn on oven with out power. At least our stove you cant. You can turn the top burners on but have to manual light them

Fortunately there was no wind this time, just the heart attack heavy snow.

In the past I have stood on the porch during high winds and heard trees breaking & crashing all around.

The range is from around 1970 so no electronics.
The oven has a standing pilot, the top burners are lit manually.

Mrs Green made bacon in the oven this morning, it was down to around 55 when I finally started the kerosene burner.

There's a thread on here for preppers talking about a Zombie Apocalypse etc when they really should be focused on Mother Nature. She's a reality and she seems to be getting wild lately.

and that's exactly why it happened. if you had just left that pt cruiser rotting out on your property like a good redneck, none of this would've happened.

... and who are you calling a redneck...? o_O
I live way too far north, we are just "Hicks in the sticks" I think. ;)

No harm in doing that occasionally, the dog needs to feel useful too. ;)
