    @Gen1TacoLady

I should think either one would be fine... so long as it feels good in your hand.
Shoot them first to compare, if possible.

When you took your course, did you shoot a compact pistol similar in size?
Or was it larger than your finalists?
    Was it a 9 mm?

I ask because 9 mm in a compact can be pretty snappy.
You mentioned having to work at overcoming trigger break anticipation.
This is not unusual, but would you say the recoil was unpleasant?
That would be the one thing that would sway me towards the .380 if you liked both equally.

I couldn't help noticing when we shook hands the other night that you have rather small hands :notsure:

I'm a big guy with big hands and I don't like recoil :anonymous:

A couple hundred thousand rounds shot at trapshooting will wear you down

I do have small hands. Even for a lady.

Both of those felt good in my hand. And both accommodate lazer/red dot which I want.

I did not shoot a compact for my certification. It was definitely larger. I'm really not used to recoil. It was a bit much for practice I think.

If I can shoot these before buying, I will try to do that. My brother said he shot the ruger last week with a friend and he thought it was pretty good.

Ammo will be cheaper for s&w.

In the latter half of my trapshooting, I had to get release triggers for my trap guns.
    Cuz flinches, recoil anticipation, whatever.

You set the trigger and the gun goes off when you release it.
Unless you open the action, then you can safely let go.

Think of it as pulling the pin on a hand grenade.
It only goes off if you let go :)

This was the cause for some hilarity on the range, and quite a few shots fired at traphouses.
Either because a shooter mistook my gun for his and took it to the line (despite the big orange R sticker on the bottom of the pistol grip) ...
Or other people knowingly trying it and being unable to remember what to do at some point in the round

There have been any number of people who have tried to explain why release triggers can tame a flinch.
No explanation is entirely satisfactory, IMO.
