Yep, that’s all it needed. I could readjust the height of the c-clips to regain the little bit of lift I lost, but then I’d be losing downtravel, so I’m happy with where it sits now.

As others have said, .5” spacer on top of your stock shocks is perfectly fine. I’ve been running them for over 3 years. Here it is combined with a 1.5 AAL (which is really 1” of lift with the weight of the camper, so I got 1” all around)…

I’ll probably end up switching out my block for an AAL also, no issues with the block but the factory leaf could use a little help when the truck is loaded up.

After reading more, I've been considering adding a block on the rear as well. I rarely load it up with any significant weight, anyway.

That's an awesome truck, with the 1.5 AAL, does it have a rake or is it leveled out? Also, are you running stock tire size? I'm thinking of going from stock 265/70r16 to 265/75r16, but not sure if this spacer lift is gonna affect anything negatively.

I’m on 265/75 16s like a lot of folks, just do it, the truck drives perfectly fine. In my opinion the TRD OR should have come 1 inch higher and with 265/75s from the factory side it’s an“off road” model. My only complaint is don’t get Duratracs, they perform great but they are noisy. I actually really like the way the factory TRD OR 16s look but I wish they were 17s for better tire selection.

Thanks. It has the same rake as factory as it sits now. After the weight of the shell on the 1.5 AAL and the 1” lift up front from the .5 spacers, I am sitting exactly 1” above stock on all 4 corners with an empty bed. Running more than a .5 spacer can definitely have negative effects, but .5 is not enough to do any kind of damage at all (i.e. bend a shock at full stuff, bind CVs, etc…). I still hit my bump stops BTW too, just slightly not as easy as before.

My tires are 255/75R17s (true 32s), which are about 1” bigger than the stock tires.

Thx for all of the info, it's really helpful. Since I don't have the weight of a shell on the bed and rarely load it, do you think I could get away with adding a block in the back to level it all out at 1" (with factory rake)? If so, what size block would keep the factory rake and just raise it up an inch?

Did you notice a difference when you switched to the Bilstein 5100's?????

If you rarely load the truck I’d almost just try the 1/2 inch spacers and don’t even touch the back. It might be just perfect for you, I might have considered doing that but I have two kids and a 95 pound dog so I load my truck pretty well even if it’s just going places with the family.

Thanks! Sounds like me; I take snowboard trips often with 3 more in the cab + gear. Gear isn't heavy but people are.

Ironman 4x4 is doing a Black Friday sale right now, I might order their AAL to replace my blocks, is there a general consensus if you need to order shims with an AAL? My rear blocks have a taper machined into them, I can’t remember if it’s just a degree or two but they worked perfectly.

On a side note I had a brand new Taco come through my shop with the complete foam cell pro lift kit installed. I was skeptical of Ironman 4x4 but they make nice stuff! The skid plate was awesome too, it was a really nice truck. I just don’t care for how their bumpers look.

Yes I prefer it in every way. It rides perfectly comfortable, but lost the brake dive, body roll, and pogo stick feeling

Do yourself a BIG favour and replace the front shocks with Bilstein 5100's. You can set it to 1" lift and the taco will be perfectly level, and more importantly your ride will improve immensely over a spacer lift, which compresses your shocks. No rubbing, no binding, no bump stop issues.

Here is my 5100's set @ 2" with a 1" block in the rear. No regrets! But If I were to carry a load, I would have went with AAL in the rear.

I might have a set of blocks in storage but they are probably 2 inch. Will sell them for the cost of shipping if I can find them.

Looks awesome! That move is a little out of my budget right now, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for a good deal this black friday.

I'm not so sure on doing blocks in the back right now, but thank you.

Spacer lifts do not compress the shocks; they move the entire coilover assembly downward. If you are talking about overcompression at full stuff, that only happens with spacer lifts taller than 1/2”, or spacer lifts combined with longer aftermarket shocks.

If budget is an issue, AAL’s in rear (or nothing at all) are both good options. I’ve run both single AAL’s and 3-leaf progressive AAL’s and they are both good.

Will these cause problems if I rarely load up weight? I've read that AAL's can stiffen the ride significantly if they're not under load.
