This was not a new vs old debate. This is a cases aren’t the same when fully sized debate.

So just to continue stirring this pot, the 25 CM was claiming way better bc than the 6cm and I was thinking that a 115 gr bt (.56x bc)had a really high BC; basically the same as the 132 gr 25 cal, but I just saw that the 6 cm only has a 1:8 twist rate that may not stabilize that... Dunno why they didn't go with a 1:7.5, not that it matters to me because I rarely shoot past 400 yards anyway (coyotes, I keep deer shots inside 300) 22cm would be interesting if there was a rifle option less than $2k... Like I said, a .243 and 25-06 will kill anything dead in North Alabama at any distance I'm going to shoot, and the mosin nagant or 45-70 can handle anything I need to kill out of state lol

Sounds more like a fair question vs a pot stir.

First thing is you have to understand that BC is made of various factors. Form factor, and sectional density are major contributors that don’t really change. Yet BC does change by Mach, and they are only a model.

It’s a big reason why BCs are inferior to custom drags but I digress.

I can tell you on average the 25 creed gets a G7 somewhere around .32-33 at around 2900-3000 fps depending bullet. Blackjack aces and Berger’s are popular. All in the 130+ grain variety.

    The 6 creed say with a 110gr A-Tip is about .301 @ 2975 fps.

So, comparable speeds but the 25 caliber bullets are longer (thus heavier) more sleek in form factor type bullets.

It makes sense they have the higher BC.

I used to cut elk sheds up and sell them on here a decade ago. But people seemed to have lost interest.

Just curious, what’s your furthest shot made on a blacktail? I’ve been wanting to get back into hunting here in Western WA and was curious about whether I would even need a scope. It seems like if you can find a clearing further than 30 ft then you are doing good. My thought was to replace the iron sights with some fiber optic ones and call it a day. Save some weight and it’s one less item to get snagged on branches.

Weren’t asking me but pretty much lifelong resident of SW WA… 5 yards to about 425… clear cuts present you with longer opportunities so I guess it depends on where exactly you are looking to hunt, in my area with the rounds and rifles people are carrying nowadays I have buddies killing black tail way out, like silly far in my opinion.. 600-800 yards etc.. muzzleloader season seems to give you some good dates in WA I’m tempted to try in the future..

I finally got to go out and hunt this weekend. The weather was finally cool- by Fl standards. Come 7:45 yesterday morning I see a deer slipping through the fennels about 65 yards out. His head lifted for a second and I see it’s a decent buck. I got him stopped at 50 yards but he’s partially hidden. A lone fennel was blocking my view of his shoulder. I was confident in my placement so I shot. He took off and did that low to the ground run. Hard to describe but we all know that run. I watched him pile up 75 yards later.
    IMG_8800.jpg
A decent nine- by north Fl standards. Shot was great, heart was no longer attached when I gutted. Happy hunting.
