Put 255/85/16s on stock OR wheels and suspension

how are you liking the falkens AT4w ? im running the M/T in this spec load range E, theyre starting to whine a lot. not too bad but def can be annoying with radio off.

 

My bad, missed this...Im loving them...they ride great, excellent in rain, dont see snow here in ENC, half inch oncr a year dont count. Good in sand and mud...now whine

 

Finally part of the skinny club. Went with the wildpeak AT4s, coming from the AT3, and that was a phenomenal tire for me, so I hope the same with these.

 

Did anybody tried AT4W on snow and ice - i will go to NJ in December and wondering how fine i will be with them

 

How do you correct the odo...or the speedo?

Damn, my whole point of considering skinny is first improved mileage and snow/rain... secondly size increase...

 

Sorry, no relevant photos other than my avatar. Toyo MT in 255/85/16. We have some big snow in the BC south east (1.5 m in about 2 weeks) and the MTs are not liking the compact snow and ice one bit.
Instead of carrying chains like I do during hunting season, switching to the Nokians today. A man's gotta know his limitations.

 

I dont know if we really lose so much mpg...there was a post, I reckon on this thread, to multiply your miles driven by 1.06...what I know, with 255/85/16's, im out of fuel according to dash...then when I fill up, I can only get 19 gallons in, so I have 2 more gallons in tank...put 5 gal in gas can...gonna drive til she sputters...or am I supposed to reply "they" sputter?

 

All modern cars lie about how much fuel is left in the tank. They always have a 1-2 gallon margin for the people who run it E so they don’t strand themselves.

 

They suck in snow , the AT3w was way better, this was from The fast lane on YouTube. The acceleration test was just to get to 30 mph, and the braking distance was from 30 mph.

Aye, for those who don't know how to figure out their mileage old school

 

Fuel pumps are bucketed in most modern cars to prevent against low tanks. But fair enough, both points can absolutely be true here.

 

Yep, that was a good post you mentioned..nice job on your relocation...I read another thread about using a ratchet strap to pull it back while raising it...it worked...I figured out if I have an extra set of hands to crank spare up, all I had to do was push tire back toward rear, and that works also with no mods(but mods are more fun when done)

 

went from FL (Broward) to NJ, NYC, Niagara Falls and back to NC and FL. They did pretty good, very good during rain (nearly 350 miles at 40-30 F), good on ice and snow closer to Niagara. Only once had rear axle skid on snow (did too much gas turning). Breaking was OK.

 

The extra fuel is to cool the pump, not to make sure you have enough. Running modern fuel pumps low will shorten their lives.
