    Morning,

I had this kit installed about six months ago, Ironman Foam Cell Pro. My last truck had the Billstein 5100 setup. When I put the Billstein in, going over any bumps was unnoticeable. But with the Ironman foam cell, it's almost like exaggerated. Like I feel the bumps more than the stock shocks. Is that to be expected? A friend told me they were still working, but just a different style. Is that accurate? Will they eventually 'break in'? Or do I need to look at the install?

    Appreciate any thoughts/ideas.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
The link is for 4Runner. Do you have a 4Runner? If not, what do you have? What springs? Information is your friend if you're asking for help.

I'm not super familiar with "Foam Cell", but tradition shocks have have different valving that changes the way they perform at different speeds.

I doubt there is something wrong with them, probably just a different feel compared to the 5100s. Have you tried testing them at a higher speed? Sometimes rough stuff smooths out for me when I hit it with more speed with my FOX setup.

"Ironman Foam Cell shocks utilize a unique design that encapsulates nitrogen gas in closed-cell foam, rather than traditional twin-tube or monotube designs. This foam cell technology provides a long-travel design, better heat dissipation (resistance to fade), and improved shock performance.

    Advantages:

    1. Long-travel design: Foam cell shocks can absorb more travel and maintain their performance, making them suitable for off-road applications.
    2. Better heat dissipation: The foam cells reduce the likelihood of overheating and oil aeration, ensuring consistent performance.
    3. Improved shock performance: The unique design provides a smoother ride, better control, and increased stability on and off-road.
    Disadvantages (myths debunked):

    1. Foam disintegration: Ironman has not experienced this issue, and it’s not a concern with their foam cell shocks.
    2. Loss of performance after overheating: The foam cells prevent gas from mixing with oil, ensuring the shock returns to normal after cooling."

I have the FCP shocks. They ride better than my OG setup because I had stock suspension with a spacer and the spacer caused all sorts of problems. I initially went with Ironman because nobody really had them as well as the price point. But I wouldn’t necessarily say it is like riding on a cloud lol

I bought Ironman rear leaf springs, bushings, greasable pins and shackles for the '94 and had a few quality and fitment problems. Ironman would do absolutely nothing. Never again. Don't be fooled by the bright colors and macho marketing. Stick with OME or other well-known brands.

It’s a rougher ride for sure, more so if you have the heavier weight springs. I think a lot of weight is needed to make them “smooth.” I think without enough weigh the trucks ride with the shocks that are not compressing and extending enough, if that makes sense.

I’ve swapped the springs to OME 2886X that I found for cheap and decided to try. E rated tires with this kit makes it pretty rough too.
