It took me years to learn to anticipate just how workers could damage, break, mess with or shortcut just about any equipment or process.
    :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

I could keep ahead of them:
    most of the time...

    ...well, half of the time...

    ...ok, some of the time...

    ...all right - occasionally...

heck, just forget I mentioned it...

I've given up on thinking I've seen it all...

Most times now I just stand there and go (pardon my French)

    Well shit...

Very true, you don't need to know all the answers - it sure helps to know who might have the right one though.

One of my tool reps started with IR in 1979, this fellow had been in more facilities and seen more equipment than one can imagine -- he had probably forgotten more than I ever knew.

I called him with some off the wall questions and he would start off with "oh, they use that commonly in fill in the blank industries I'll send you some information."

I'm pretty much at GVW with this one.

It is a 90 degree turn at the bottom and an immediate climb, 800 feet elevation in less than a mile, tough hill for an engine with the off idle torque of a riding lawn mower.

That's why I feel Toyota knocked it out of the park with the new turbo 4. Torque right off the line. Everybody hates the idea of a 4 banger in a Tacoma but they have quickly forgotten the old 22R and 22RE of days past.

Now, if only the new 8 speed auto was as nice. :frusty:

Came in to a surprise this morning, first time the parking lot at work has ever had lines.

They took the cones away right before I left on Friday at 3. Not sure when they painted it.

The old 22R trucks were intended for a different era and different consumer.

I had an old 4 cylinder/5 speed 2wd Ranger, it was handy as a pocket on a shirt for general purpose running around. Would I ever attempt to tow a car trailer with it - no way, it wasn't ever intended for that use.

I view the modern Tacoma as kind of a Swiss Army knife of trucks, it can do a lot of things OK but not be outstanding at any of them.

My dad had a Chevrolet LUV when I was young, had the Isuzu 4 cylinder in it. He always said "it's a great truck to go look at something but you can't bring it back"

The line paint dries in minutes.

The kid who worked for me could do a great job fast with that stuff -- me not so much.

    We had one of these:

Those little trucks from the 70's - 90's offered a lot of utility for not much money.
Back in those days the wife could have the family car, the husband had "his truck" for commuting & doing manly things like going to the lumber yard on Saturday mornings.

I had a 2nd gen S10 4 cylinder 5 speed manual. I loved that little truck. 0-60 in.. well, no it couldn't do that  But it was reliable.

I even threw on a 10' away paint job on it.

I remember as a kid dad would have a fire call with the local volunteer F.D. and I would ask him if I could go, he'd say yes. If we turned right out of the driveway, about 1/2 a mile away there was a long straight stretch and the ole LUV would be screaming, he'd have it in 4th gear and we'd be doing 75-80 with no seatbelts on of course. Most every time he did that, not long after he'd have to put a head gasket on it.

I also witnessed some things I can't forget on those calls.

10' isn't bad at all, most of the vehicles I've painted were at least 25'-40'ers :anonymous:
