7900XTX is a far better value

No need to deal with cracked PCBs that even occur during shipping or the huge Nvidia tax

Faster and double Vram, but not sure if you trust him to buy used parts

40xx series > 3090 although they come up for $450 - 550 many times out here

Had looked them up when I sold my extra GPUs

    Definitely not a $600 card

Yeah there's some glitches in the game that I hope get resolved. So far they haven't been too bad. The career mode is pretty cool so far but is the most laggy. They put so much detail at the ground level that it starts to bog when you get near it, so glitchy landings is incredibly frustrating at like 10fps lol I knocked down the settings and it's gotten a bit better.

I would imagine it would use a rolling cache in commonly used areas? I might need to look at saving the local area data like you mention. It's pretty cool how the career mode centers around the airport of your choosing. Hilariously I was able to pick the shuttered airfield 200yds from my bedroom  now thats local!
Good, I could use a slow Monday, was up waaaay too late last night. Didn't crawl into bed until 1am. Broke my sleep schedule this weekend...
Fuck, is this the nerds equivalent of asking what tire I should get?

I am willing to put some money into it to boost the performance and get away with maxing out the detail settings. My monitor is only 1080 right now... It's also on the list of things to upgrade in the next year. My whole setup is pretty much up for upgrade, controls, chair, monitor, and possibly the graphics card if it's the culprit.

I did order an the Tobii Eyetracker and hope it upgrades the current experience. Little birthday present to myself.

I mean everything better than a 4070 beats a 3090, but the 4070 and 3090 are virtually indistinguishable in performance, outside the extra VRAM in the 3090. I'd take the 3090 every day just to have that extra ram buffer, since every new game seems to just get bigger and bigger and eats that vram up

Thats in 1080p, in 4k the 3090 walks the 4070

If you couldn't tell I went the 3090 route when I was looking to upgrade to a 4070 a couple years ago lol

Whats up with games taking so much space? I just deleted call of duty off my xbox because it took up all my internal storage and wanted another 150gb update.

GPU debates can go far longer than tire and oil debates unfortunately

    Just comes down to value

For a high end card at the $850 mark, easily a 7900XTX as it sits between a 4080 and 4090 card

And I'm not even an AMD fan (generally speaking) but Nvidia really fucked things up with their +12HPWR connectors. Not to mention how often memory chips and even cores get ripped off their PCBs due to the amount of flex allowed on those heavy cards. There are reports of people receiving dead cards new out of the box cause of it.

For the $400 mark, you're in AMD territory again with the 6950XT.

However, I will say if you can snag a 4070TI Super on a black friday special of around $700, that thing will run everything you play on max at 1440P. I run a 4070TI and it replaced my old 3070 and 3080 cards while also running quieter and more efficiently.

    I wouldn't suggest a 4070 in general :boink:

And at 1080p, any game would be more cpu bound

I should add, another reason why not a 3090 is because those TDP numbers are a freaking lie.

The 3090 is a beast of a card, but already old architecture. My 3080 would pull over 400 watts and utilized 3x PCIE connectors. We didn't even get into Ben's PSU or anything but you better expect some heat and noise (along with a strong PSU) if you're going to run a 3090.

The 40xx cards run much better.

TDP and BF discounts are why a 4070 is my recommendation, he has a pretty unknown prebuilt, I'm not trusting anything in it too far.

I'll stick to Nvidia only because it has the GeForce thing that I can almost understand. I think these are the spec of my current machine... It's all confusing to me.
