    i screwed up big time.
I have many paint scratches on the hood on my 2012 black TACO.
what should i do clay and or scratch remover ???
    Is the clear coat gone?
The image was taken with a polarizer lens, to bring out the scratches with little or no reflctions.
thanks I did not have this problem with my first 2002 TACO.
    thanks

I can’t imagine anything other than a repaint will fix that

That is...intense. How'd that even happen? Quick way to tell how SOL you are is to hit it with water. If most of the scratches disappear when wet, you can paint correct them out...for the most part. Even then it'd probably require wet sanding at that level of damage. Danger of burning through the clear is real, but you'd be in for a respray anyway as mentioned.

But my bet would be try with some corrective compound of choice (Griots etc.) and a DA first, just for giggles. That'll show what you can get out, and judge if you want to go more aggressive or not. That is if you don't mind spending time before dropping a dime on respray.

    Repaint is the only option.

I'm guessing OP has a WAG that puts her purse on the hood of the truck :annoyed:

Well I was born and raised in a bodyshop and retired from a dealership.. And from what I can see in the picture the clearcoat is breaking down, so only a repaint will fix it ,anything else will be a waste of time and money...

wash the rest of the truck with a Brillo pad so it looks uniform. Then drop it off at the body shop for a full respray.
